The Dunsborough and Districts Country Club (DDCC) has been a cornerstone of the Dunsborough community since its inception. The club officially opened its doors on 29 December 1973, but its roots trace back to earlier community initiatives. In 1969, the first club meeting was held with the resolution to form the Dunsborough Cruising Club. By 1971, discussions had evolved, and at a meeting of the Dunsborough Progress Association, it was resolved to establish a club dedicated to sporting and social activities, leading to the formation of the DDCC.
The original clubhouse and the first nine holes of the golf course were officially opened in September 1973 by Ray O’Connor MLA. The construction, costing approximately $72,000, was primarily funded by a self-supporting loan from the Busselton Shire Council.
Over the years, the club expanded its facilities to cater to a growing membership and diverse sporting interests:
- 1979: Approval was granted for the addition of a further nine holes to the golf course.
- 1980: The first four holes of the new nine were ready for play by October.
- 1981: Tennis facilities were introduced, with play commencing in April.
- 1984–85: The clubhouse underwent significant extensions, including a well-equipped kitchen, a new sports office, a larger committee room, and an expanded bar area.
- 1989: Croquet was introduced to the club, starting with a half green in July.
- 2010: Mountain biking was proposed as a new activity, reflecting the club’s commitment to evolving with community interests.

Today, the DDCC boasts a range of facilities, including an 18-hole sand green golf course, two high-quality synthetic bowling greens, two full-size croquet courts, six tennis courts, and mountain bike trails that link with the Meelup Trails, forming the Dunsborough Mountain Bike Park.
The club’s success and longevity are attributed to its dedicated members and volunteers who have tirelessly contributed to its growth and maintenance. From its humble beginnings to its current status as a vibrant community hub, the DDCC remains committed to providing inclusive recreational opportunities for all.
