What is the Dunsborough Country Club?

The Dunsborough Country Club is a community-owned and volunteer-led organisation, offering a unique blend of sport, recreation and social connection in one of Western Australia’s most scenic coastal settings. For more than 50 years, the club has been a welcoming destination for locals and visitors alike — a place to stay active, meet others, and enjoy the natural beauty of the South West. With a strong vision for the future and a proud history of community involvement, the Club continues to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of Dunsborough and its surrounds.

Whether you’re here for competition or camaraderie, for a weekly game or a one-off function, we’re proud to offer an inclusive and engaging experience for all. Explore more about who we are below.

Vision, Mission and Values

We believe in the many benefits of participation — not only through sport and activity, but through a sense of belonging, connection, and contribution.

Our vision, mission and values shape the way we operate and the experience we strive to create for every member and guest. At the core of our purpose is a commitment to social and physical wellbeing for people of all ages and abilities. Our values emphasise inclusivity, respect, community and volunteerism.

They guide our decisions as a committee and underpin the direction of the Club’s Strategic Intent. This section outlines our guiding principles and the future we’re working towards — a vibrant, inclusive club that evolves with its community while staying true to its roots.

Our History

The Dunsborough Country Club officially opened in 1973, but its story began years earlier with a vision for a shared community space.

What started as a modest club with a single sport has grown into a dynamic, multi-sport facility supporting hundreds of members and thousands of visitors each year. Our history reflects the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of local support — with every building, trail and court shaped by community hands. Over the years, the club has expanded to include golf, bowls, croquet, tennis, mountain biking and mind sports.

Milestones include major clubhouse renovations, new court installations, expanded trails and increasing participation across age groups. This section explores how the club has grown and adapted over five decades, and celebrates the legacy of those who have contributed to its success.

Governance

Strong, transparent governance is central to the Club’s continued success. As an incorporated not-for-profit association, the Dunsborough Country Club is led by an elected Management Committee and supported by sport-specific sub-committees and staff. Together, they ensure the Club runs efficiently, safely and with a clear long-term plan.

Our governance framework includes a regularly reviewed Constitution, active use of By-Laws and policies, and a strategic approach to risk and succession planning. With support from the City of Busselton and professional consultants, the Club has developed a three-year Strategic Intent and is involved in a broader Masterplan process to guide future growth.

This section outlines how decisions are made, who is involved, and what measures are in place to maintain accountability, protect our assets, and build toward a strong, sustainable future.

Location and Facilities

Set on more than 55 hectares of bushland reserve just minutes from Dunsborough town centre, the Club offers an exceptional mix of sport, nature and hospitality. Facilities include an 18-hole sand green golf course with ocean views, two bowling greens, two croquet lawns, six tennis courts, and a network of linked mountain bike trails. Indoors, the Clubhouse features a licensed bar, commercial kitchen, dining room, and several spaces for functions and mind games.

With a total event capacity of 381 people, it’s a popular venue for community gatherings, tournaments and private celebrations. The grounds also include ample parking, accessible facilities, and space for casual recreation. This section provides a full overview of our facilities, how they’re used, and what’s available for members, visitors and event organisers year-round.
