Hello Members, Sponsors, Patrons and Friends,

On November 13th as part of Seniors Week, the Club is holding a “Get Up & Go Activity Day”.

Senior's activity day notice

The kitchen roster for the first round of Corporate Bowls which begins on Tuesday, November 4th is on the notice board. Would bowls members please check to ensure they are available for their rostered duty. Please note that seven men bowlers are included on this roster, and the second round of Corporate Bowls will include several other regular men bowlers. A list of those likely to be rostered will be left with Rob Pollard. This will hopefully result in very few members having to be rostered more than once.

The Croquet Section Pennants Team won their Round 1 South West Pennants fixture against Bunbury Central last Wednesday in Busselton. All 4 members won their Singles Matches: David Morris beat Michael O Sullivan 14–7; Raelene Willis beat Vi Bebbington 12–8; Terry Herd beat Brian Bebbington 16–15 and David Bell excelled beating Olive Cannan 21–14. The team won 63 hoops to 44. The next round will be played in 2 weeks against Moorabinda, Bunbury again at Busselton. Next year we will be able to play our home matches at the DDCC. Congratulations to David Morris for his third placing at Mandurah Croquet Club’s Division 2 tournament last weekend. In just 12 months he has reduced his handicap from 20 (Div 4) to 7 and in Division 2 he plays against players with handicaps from 2.5 to 7.

On Sunday the Bowling Open Day was held in quite unpleasant conditions. 42 bowlers braved the weather with the winning team consisting of Kevin Gibb, Winn Ellis & Wendell Hoover. Liberal Party representatives Barry House, Libby Metham & Wayne Barnett attended the presentations with Barry House saying a few words about his association with the Dunsborough Country Club.

The Liberal Party are holding their bi-election gathering at the Club this evening with the Premier Colin Barnett in attendance.

Nomination forms for the Volunteer of the Month are available at the bar. Please nominate someone who deserves recognition for their efforts around the Club.

The Friday night jackpot is at $700.

The Twilight MTB Time Trials Series commenced last night with 20 riders racing around one lap of the Dunsborough MTB Skills Development Park trails… This is the first round of the “Cycle Sections” club racing summer series which consists of 12 rounds to be held every second Monday night through the summer.

Last night’s racing resulted in plenty of fun for all who rode the 8.6km course… with Jessica Reynolds of Dunsborough recording the fastest time for the girls (26 mins 45.5 secs) and Lee Scurlock from Busselton recording a blistering (23 mins 15.2 secs) which is the fastest time ever recorded on the Blue Arrow course…

Everybody left very pumped up, ready for more and looking forward to the next round of Twilight MTB Time Trials to be held from 5.30pm on Monday 13 October…

All members and visitors are welcome!

Kirsty is preparing a delightful dinner for us all to enjoy on Friday night. Bookings can be made via phone, email or the foyer booking sheet.
