Bruce’s Weekly Update 18/11/2014

Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons

It was another week of activity around the Club starting with Corporate Bowls on Tuesday and Wednesday which is running very well. All the teams participating are having a great time and the bar is enjoying the trade.

On Thursday we had 42 for Men’s Social Bowls.

Also on Thursday was the seniors “Have a Go” Day which was attended by 70 seniors who enjoyed a morning of trying a variety of activities including mahjong, croquet, table tennis, carpet bowls, pool and walking the mountain bike course. The mornings’ activities were followed by a great lunch. Thank you very much to Trish Flower, Helen South, Frances Lismore for organising the event and to all who helped on the day. It was a great community event hosted by the DDCC.

I have included a couple of pictures from the day.

Friday night dinner attracted 110 diners which is a great effort. The membership jackpot was not claimed and will be at $400 this Friday.

Steve Reagan will be preparing a delightful meal for us all to enjoy this Friday. Dinner Menu 21 11 2014. Please book early to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made via phone, email or the booking sheet in the Club’s foyer.

Saturday was Men’s Pennants, golf and Social Tennis.

On Sunday afternoon, Thinkwater held their early Xmas party at the Club where they played golf and enjoyed a BBQ on the verandah. Thank you Estelle Perry for helping out in the bar.

Please note that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, aka Butch Sharpe and Geoff Oddy will be providing an opportunity for Members, Friends and Visitors to play SOCIAL (very social if not Mickey Mouse) BOWLS on each TUESDAY going forward from Tuesday 18 November 2014.

It will be MIXED bowls and the games will be determined to suit the numbers that we may get. It may be pairs, triples, scroungers or squash with 2 games of 10 ends with a change of partners and opposition after the first 10 ends. Individual aggregate scores will determine a final playoff which others are encouraged to stay and encourage.

It provides the more serious bowlers a competitive practice environment and the rest of us an opportunity for a fun game of bowls.

It will be a 1pm for a 1.30 pm start, the fee will be the normal $7 with cash prizes for the winners and the dress will be mufti.

Please contact Geoff Oddy 0419046120 if you have any questions.

We look forward to a good turnout for a FUN afternoon.

Morgan Flower won the Annual Telstra Dedication to Task Award last Friday night at the South West Academy of Sport’s formal Dinner at the Lighthouse Hotel in Bunbury. He was selected from a field of 8.

The Telstra Country Wide and the South West Academy of Sport work together to recognise the efforts of people in the region’s sporting community who went above and beyond in their pursuit of sporting excellence. This can be those ‘behind the scenes’ that make things happen. Congratulations Morgan

Have a great week.

Keep Smiling

Regards
