Happenings Around The Club

STATE SERIES ROUND of CROSS COUNTRY MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE

The Cycle Section had a big event- Sat June 1st at DDCC with the State Series round of the Cross Country Mountain Bike race on, with elite riders, to kids Under 9s races, skills clinics, and more!

Thanks heaps to our great team led by Graham Clark at Bikeshed, who had the role of putting together the event. Thanks also to Bruce, Golf, the Country Club, who we mostly took over for the day, Andrew SW from Cape Mountain Bikers, and SO many other volunteers who gave their time for the day to run smoothly.

The weather was stunning, sunny all day, and locals rode the course well and achieved some great times. Feedback from riders was positive, and encouraging for next year’s event!

See you on the trails,

Helen and Cycle Committee

CARDIO TENNIS

Well last week I (Nita) joined in this activity to ensure I could write an honest appraisal for you all AND yes it is a great workout with the added benefit of Andrew dishing out some terrific hints on court positioning;  stroke play & ball placement. It is just $20.00 for a solid hour workout – but YOU can adjust how much you wear yourself out as the hour progresses!

Simply turn up at our courts [with your racquet]  & ready to play every Tuesday 9-10 a.m. or 5.30 – 6.30 p.m.

Contact Andrew 0419913294 if you need more detail.

THURSDAY TENNIS

Thursday Tennis continues all through the winter months if the weather is reasonable. You & your friends are always welcome.  Naturally numbers are lower as so many people travel but it is always fun to get out in the fresh air ..The weather man is currently predicting LOTS of rain this Thursday but it is not always correct!

Dunsborough has offered to be a trial site for this new form of croquet, introduced to halt the decline of players playing Association Croquet. The trial will be run by Max Kewish who will instruct complete novices for an hour a week for 6 weeks. As the name indicates players will aim to score 14 hoops in 40 minutes. Like Golf Croquet, all players will remain on the court for the whole game. The first session is at the DDCC at 10am on Thursday 23rd May.
