A HUGE THANK YOU
To everyone who participated in our “It’s in the Bag” collection.
We had bags coming in from all the sporting bodies within the Dunsborough & Districts Country Club. With everyone’s help the message went out into the community.
Bags came in from Bowls, Corporate Bowls, Croquet, Golf, Tennis, Mahjong, Dunsborough/Yallingup Chamber of Commerce, donations of products from the Dunsborough Pharmacy, lady bowlers from Augusta, Cowaramup and Margaret River. People chatted to others on the beach, at church, at the shops etc, and bags came in.
A first up small target of 50 was put out to our members however we knew we would exceed that number and quietly hoped for 100 bags.
We received over 150 bags!
We cannot name individuals and if any organisation has not been mentioned above please forgive us. What an outstanding response from ladies to help ladies. We had helpers on the day sort out bags, add bags, add products, check products etc and four cars to deliver them all in Busselton.
Please accept our deepest thanks for such a great response. This is a great cause and it takes hardly any effort from any of us to participate.
We will continue to do this as members of the Dunsborough community and basing our collection point within the Dunsborough & Districts Country Club. Thanks also to Bruce who so quickly said we can utilise the club as a drop off point. We would also like to mention all the men, the husbands, boyfriends who quickly saw this event as something they also could offer assistance.
Next year our target will be 200 bags! We will keep our eyes out for scarves, jewellery, books etc to add to our list of personal items.
Job well done. Bravo Zulu everyone.

MENS’ BOWLS

The Division One men travelled to Cowaramup on the day that turned out to be more like a winter’s day than a summer’s day. Jackets, raincoats and umbrellas were the order of the day as the fine misty rain spread across onto the green bringing with it a chilling wind.
Geoff Benn and his team went to win! Let me say that again. Geoff Benn and his team went to win! It was a “take no prisoners” attitude as the whole team relentlessly outplayed and outshone the opposition winning 37-9.
Mike Brown and Edmund Hoemberg had a hard day at the office against Colin Mee and Keith Simmonds respectively. The lead constantly changed hands and it was not until the 19th end that Ed and his team got ahead by two shots and eventually ran out the winners 19-16.
Colin Mee’s team took 4 shots against the Brown side to be up 20-17 on the 20th end and won by two shots for a point. Dunsborough took the aggregate and are on top of the ladder but meet second place Margaret River at home next week and still need to win.
Second Division Blue drove to Margaret River where both teams lost. White won both their games at Augusta. Skipper Norm Gage sent me an email which reads “Trust you will mention in your weekly report that Wendell starred at Augusta last Saturday. He and Rod Winchcombe carried us to victory while Clem and I were passengers.”
Margaret River is on top with White second ahead of Augusta on the ladder.
LADIES BOWLS
PENNANTS TUES 30TH NOV.
Pennants were played at Augusta in cloudy and windy conditions.
All Dunsborough teams wee successful in winning their fours, but had
varied results in the pairs.
DUNSBOROUGH :- H.Reynolds, Megan Black, Sharon Sharpe and May Armstrong 4 1/2 points
played Margaret River Green 1 1/2 points.
DUNSBOROUGH WHITE:- Sue Chester, Gail Barry, Jill Winter and Sammy Berryman 3 points
played Augusta Blue 3 points.
DUNSBOROUGH BLUE :- Maureen Hines, Jem Coupar, Janice Hoover and Daisy Grist 3 1/2 points
played Augusta gold 2 1/2 points.
CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES WED 31ST NOV.
The first round of the Championship singles saw some close games.
Janice Hoover defeated Mauren Hines 21 to 19,
Helen Reynolds defeated Gail Barry 21 to 20.
Sue Chester defeated Marie Paterson and Daisy Grist defeated Wendy Collins.
The second round saw Janice Hoover win over Sue Chester, and Daisy Grist win against Helen Reynolds.
In the Plate, Gail Barry defeated Wendy Collins, and Maureen Hines defeated Marie Paterson.
CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS MON 5TH DEC.
Playing brilliant bowls, Janice Hoover was winner of the singles championship, with Daisy Grist Runner-up.
Gail Barry was successful in the Plate against Maureen Hines runner-up.
Wednesday 6th Dec will be social bowls.
GOLF NEWS
Newsletter Men’s Golf Section 6 December, 2016.

As the Men’s Golf Season has entered the summer season our Golf Days and Times will now be :-
Wednesday and Saturdays
Commencing at 1.00 pm Events will be 14 Holes.
This format will continue until further notice.
Tees and fairways will still be maintained over the summer period but as you will appreciate the fairways will have a lot of run with less moisture being around.
Reminder – Summer Rule :
Would all players please return sprinklers to the Tee Watering position after teeing off to allow the automatic sprinklers to cover the tee area without having to be manually replaced on the tees.
This will be a great help so thanks in anticipation for your cooperation.
Please tell any visitors you see on the course to do the same.
A notice will be displayed at Pay Station Entrance to advise visitors also.
Vets Golf
The 2017 Season will commence in February 2017 and our delegates, Mark Embry and Ron Carmody will attend the final delegates’ committee meeting at Capel on Tuesday 13 December, 2016.
Last Saturday’s inaugural 14 Hole Summer Event saw Barry Jackson continue his good summer form scoring 29 points to be winner on a countback from Ken Littlefair. Jim Parry also kept his eye in winning the longest putt on No 18. Even Adam Scott would have been pleased. It was good to see Brian Appleyard , Andrew Perryman and Paul Smith joining the field and enjoying the chance to be back on the course.
Having watched some of the Australian PGA Golf Event on the weekend one can see that it is still the short game that counts in the end.
Guess what I need to practice. They say that even hitting 50 balls a day will make a difference. It’s picking them up each time that challenges the effort. See you on the short course. Cheers All.

Friday Night Jackpot
The Jackpot Draw on Friday night was not won. This Friday nights jackpot will be $200. Members must be financial and present to claim. The Jackpot is drawn between 5.30pm and 6.30pm in the Clubroom bar.
