In the words of local Dunsborough resident and yoga instructor Mandy Lancellas ‘I thrive on encouraging those who feel they ‘can’t do yoga’ to become those who can, by exploring the multiple benefits for the body, mind and soul.Gentle Hatha Yoga enables the body and mind to find calm and focus in the present moment. It is through breath awareness that we manage to realign our physical body with the mental and energetic systems. Our main focus is safe and effective alignment, to create awareness, strength and mobility. As we grow older the saying of ‘what we do not use, we loose’ begins to resonate with us more and more and so its vital to keep the body moving in a gentle and safe way, maintaining a healthy range of movement throughout our senior years and reducing the risks of injury.’
Mandy invites anyone who is interested to join her for a gentle and safe yoga practice, suitable for all levels including beginners and people over 50.
Feel free to contact Mandy for any further information.

MEN’S BOWLS
Tuesday Mixed Social Bowls
We had another great turnout again, 31 bowlers. Marvelous effort everyone. The day was made even more special with all of us being able to be a part of Tom Ferguson’s 89th Birthday celebration. Fantastic Tom.
Geoff Oddy was the first through to the finals, followed by Rod Winchcombe, Ken Holyoake and Jill Winter. No one was able to break ahead in the 4 end final so it ended in a draw.
Hope to see everyone again next Tuesday

CYCLE NEWS
This weekend’s Down South MTB Festival was a great success with more than 500 people lapping up the high-octane action during the 5th running of this mountain biking festival.
Held at the Dunsborough & Districts Country Club and Margaret River ‘The Pines’ Forest the event – took place on Saturday and Sunday – attracted roughly double the amount of competitors and spectators it did last year.
Building on previous year’s success, the 2018 version featured the latest round of the West Australian Mountain Bikers Association Cross Country State Series with most of WA’s top cross country mountain bikers competing for points and State Round top honours.
This year’s challenging 7.5km cross country course was designed by local ‘Bike Shed Dunsborough’ owner Lee Scurlock and ‘Cape Mountain Bikers’ president Andrew Spencer-Wright. Feedback from the riders suggested they were very impressed with the high standards of the trail selection and presentation of the entire course around the Dunsborough MTB Skills Development Park and within Meelup Zone6.
Local legend Rohan Brown took out top honours in the Male A Grade category, with Dunsborough Cycle Club’s Jess Reynolds taking out the win in Female B Grade category.
There was plenty of other bike-related activities for people of all ages ranging from the bike relay race events for adults and non-competitive races for children Under13. We had a record total number of 103 kids participate in the Under13 and Under9 races
Other biking action included basic bike skills coaching, a bunny-hop competition, pump track challenge, wheelie competitions and dirt jumps display. Dunsborough mountain biking heroes Mitch Monotti won the bunny hop comp and Harry Ainsworth won the Dirt Jump Styles.
The event organising crew was delighted with this years festival’s success, with the most pleasing thing being the family-orientated atmosphere and to see the sea of a smiling faces.
“We’d like to thank everyone who came along and those that contributed. Having over 500 people participate says a lot about how much the people value the event and the respect they have for the trails in the south west area. Even though there were hundreds of people competing or spectating, the entire area was left almost completely clean – we hardly had to pick up a single piece of litter.
Thank you to all who came, it was a great weekend of mountain biking and meeting fun people. Well done to all riders for a fantastic weekend of fast racing under blue skies, and congratulations to our winners! We hope you had a blast!
A special thanks to everyone who helped make it happen, to our volunteers, to Bike Shed Dunsborough and the City of Busselton our valued sponsors, and to all the friends, family members and support crews of the club, without you an event like this just doesn’t happen.
