Hello all members, sponsors & patrons It was a very festive week at the Club just gone.  Xmas Parties a plenty. Last Tuesday Mahjong held their Xmas get together, men’s golf was on Wednesday, Peter Cracknell kindly provided nibbles for the Thursday social bowlers.  The croquet section held their end of year lunch on Friday.  To round off the week on Sunday after the Tyres & More final; the bowls section held their Xmas gathering which was attended by 60 bowlers. On behalf of myself and the Club, I would like to wish Doug Meyers and Joy Burkett all the best for the future as they are relocating to Mandurah.  Doug has been a major driving force with the Men’s bowls. His efforts as Captain and event organization will be missed by all.  Thank you Doug and Joy.  All the best.

Club Car Park Upgrade Coming Soon The Clubs car park is going to be swept and the parking bay lines remarked.  The sweeping will take place on 14th January 2015 and the marking on 15th January 2015.  The car park entrance and exit will be closed for these two days.  Parking is available in the vacant block next to the car park.

Bowls News Men’s social bowls on Thursday attracted a field of 39 players and all games were played in good spirit. The Tyres and More sponsored mixed pairs were played over two Sundays, December 14 and 21. This event proudly sponsored by Robyn and John Hinkely is now in its eighth year, a tremendous effort and our appreciation is certainly extended to them. The eventual winners were Merv Mott and Janice Paddock-Hoover followed closely by Mike Brown and Pam Brown. To enable these tournaments to take place a considerable amount of effort is required. A special thanks to Doug Myers and Rob Pollard for their work done on keeping the show rolling and all the scores up to date. At the end of play on the second Sunday a meal was served. A great thank you to all the ladies who brought salads and to Gaye and Kevin Gibb for organising the chickens. A tremendous pre-Christmas dinner was well attended and enjoyed by all. Tuesday mixed Scroungers will recommence on Tuesday 13th January 2015.  Please turn up at 1.00pm for a 1.30pm start. Corporate Bowls will be recommencing on Tuesday 20th & Wednesday 21st January 2015.

Golf News Attached is a photo of your initiative and great handiwork addition to the DDCC Golf Course which has given much pleasure to all golfers as a rest and safety rail on the 6th Tee? I’ve named it appropriately as Bazzas’ Balcony.  Well done and thanks!

Croquet News DDCC Croquet has been around for 25 years!  The anniversary was celebrated on Friday 19th at our annual Gala Day luncheon. Helen South and Barbara Miller organized a fun round of games enjoyed by experienced and novice players in Christmas garb.  David Morris won the trophy. 28 past and present players enjoyed a delicious lunch and a visit from Santa.   Croquet’s AGM was held on November 28th. Office bearers are President: Frances Lismore, Vice President: Raelene Willis; Captain: Terry Herd; Vice Captain: David Bell; Secretary: Vaile Drake; Treasurer: Stuart Dunn; Green Keeper: David Morris.

Social Croquet 15 people enjoyed social croquet on Friday evening.  Next Social Croquet will be on Jan. 2nd.

Junior Section We’ve had a great year, with new members for all sports- Bowls, golf, cycling and tennis. The twilight Mountain Bike time trials have been huge success with many junior taking to the course.   The golf season finished with a fantastic presentation night attended by kids, families and much appreciated volunteers. We are now into bowls, which we hope will expand in the new year. I believe tennis goes from strength to strength. Hopefully in 2015 all junior members can get together to form an official ‘juniors section’ where we can meet one another and perhaps try out different sports. A social event would be good too! Thanks to the Management Committee, Brian Morris, Rob Pollard and all the dedicated helpers who’ve made our year possible. I wish everyone a merry Christmas and a safe, happy, healthy new year.

Bar Trading Hours over Xmas 24th December 4.00pm – 6.00pm 25th & 26th December – Closed 27th December 4.00pm – Close 28th December – Closed 29th December – Closed 30th December – 4.00pm – Close   25 members took advantage of the free hearing test offered by The Australian Hearing Bus last Wednesday. It was a very beneficial and worthwhile initiative.

VOLUNTEERS putting in plenty around Club   On behalf of the members… a very big Thank you! Barry Jackson (Golf) and Rob Pollard (Maintenance) on always delivering some great work around the club…We salute you with a bottle of 2009 ‘DDCC’ Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon… a small, but heart felt gift, to express the appreciation of fellow members, staff and management… CHEERS!

PAY STATION – New Fencing installed over the school holidays!   We’re expecting plenty of visitor activity over the Christmas Holidays this year… So a temporary fence has been installed at the main entrance to the club, to slow down the bike riders and encourage non-members to pay their ‘Visitors Fees’… If this increases the strike rate of visitors paying the ‘Visitor Fees’ at the PAY STATION then this could possibly become a  permanent solution?

The Club will not be open for dinner on Friday 26th December (Boxing Day).  Club dinner and the members’ jackpot draw will recommence on Friday 2nd January 2015.
