The Good Old Days of Dunsborough

We would like to invite you to an event that is being held at the Dunsborough and Districts Country Club on Thursday 26th May, 5.30pm, entitled

“The Good Old Days of Dunsborough” (see attached flier)

The evening is an informal get-together of community members, to reminisce and tell tales of the developing years of our town.

There are so many of you whom we know would have great anecdotes to share. To kick the evening off we have booked 10 or so willing story tellers, and will follow on with an ‘open-mike’ session whereby anyone is welcome to share a tale or two.

We would love you to join us and be part of this oral history of Dunsborough. Please feel free to invite friends or family along. It should be a laugh!

You can register by emailing me at admin@dycci.com.au or by phoning 0428229445. The entry is $20

Special request– if you have any photos of days gone by can you please contact me and I can arrange to collect them, scan and return to you. I’m hoping to put a slide show together for the evening.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Max Kewish takes aim a roquet

Last Friday and Saturday, seven Ricochet croquet players from Port Bouvard Croquet Club enjoyed a stay in Dunsborough and croquet at DDCC.  Over the two days, we mixed and matched players to play 6 rounds of  3 doubles and 1 singles matches – players playing with a different partner in each round.

Even though some of our Dunsborough players are novices at Ricochet, the Port Bouvard group was happy to partner the new players and share and pass on their experiences of Ricochet. Our players learned a lot. For the record, Port Bouvard won the majority of the prizes with Dunsborough’s Barbara Miller getting the best score in Session 2.

Our visitors enjoyed our hospitality, including dining at the club on Friday night. The highlight though was sampling Max Kewish’s quiche tarts – a culinary delight! Thank you to all who helped the smooth running of a very successful and positive 2 day visit.

It was also David Bell’s Birthday!

Junior Golf
This year Junior golf is proposed to be held on Sunday mornings at 10 am.
It is envisaged that coaching will be held for an hour and then juniors will play some holes of golf
afterwards to practise their skills.
Luckily, we do have Steve Dartnall who has offered to help with golf coaching lessons at various
times depending upon his own golf schedule. There wiil be a small cost for Steve’s coaching.
Could those who are interested in Junior Golf this year please contact Morgan Flower or myself to
register your interest asap.
Many Thanks

Tennis News

Dunsborough Tennis Club entered a team in the Bunbury Teams Carnival held at the Bunbury Tennis Club over the weekend 30 April / 1 May.  A Ladies’ Doubles Team was entered which included Jan Pendrigh and Marlene Howes from Dunsborough Club who joined with two ladies from Mandurah and one from Bunbury.  (Due to injury and seeding commitments our full Dunsborough team was not available this year).  We did not bring home the medals this year, but were Runners Up in our Division.  As always, the event was well organized with large numbers attending the event which presented an opportunity to network with other tennis players from South West clubs and Perth which has already resulted in one enquiry from a Bunbury lady to join the Dunsborough Tennis Club for Social Tennis on Saturdays.  We look forward to participating again next year and this time returning with medals.
