BOWLS NEWS

MEN’S BOWLS

It appears that Rolf Groenheide from Busselton has a taste for IGA beef as he once again went home with the meat after Thursday’s peg- draw. This time he was partnered by our new member, cyclist, turned occasional bowler, Gary Bell who, on receiving his meat pack complimented our Bowling section by saying how much he enjoyed the fun and fellowship. Linton Thomas and Cliff Dawson were only two shots behind the winning pair, while Peter Willcocks and his ‘Buddy’ enjoyed the chocolate.

With this coming weekend seeing the last of the club competitions in the form of the mixed pairs, thoughts should be turning to the AGM on the morning of Thursday the 20th April at 10 am. Any proposals for the AGM should be posted on the noticeboard immediately, while all vacancies for the new 2018-19 committee need to be filled. Please append your names as proposers and seconders on the available list. The new committee will also have to decide on how many teams to enter the two Pennants competitions next year so please add your names before heading off to warmer pastures.

LADIES BOWLS

16 ladies enjoyed lunch at the Bootleg Brewery on Monday 26th March, where Tom and Helen Reynolds gave each person a free drink and Easter eggs.

Tom then presented  vouchers to the winners and runners-up of the Ladies Championship fours, which he has sponsored for many years.

Thanks Tom and Helen Reynolds for your continued support.

SOCIAL BOWLS WED 28TH.

Winners were Pat Manton and Estelle Perry with two wins, and runners-up Daisy Grist and Lorraine Bell with a win and a draw.

TENNIS NEWS

Easter Saturday brought a large number of players to the Club for Saturday Social Tennis.  The weather was superb and players enjoyed the company of 6 visitors on the day who all joined in the spirit of some good competition and fun tennis.  Many thanks to Bay Wilson who brought along a lovely cake for us to enjoy during the well-earned afternoon tea break with a chance to chat between sets.  It was also good to see most players adjourn to the Clubrooms following play at 5.00 pm and be joined by some members and friends who had not been able to play on the day.

A reminder to all that Saturday 12 May is the date set for Greg Banfield’s – “Ye Olde Cowbell Tournament” and we expect a good crowd on that day to join in the fun and challenge of this event.
