CROQUET NEWS

Croquet players never stop for the weather as this photo shows.   We must love the game to play in the worst conditions possible.

Brian Uren and his merry gang have been working on putting a back cover on the croquet shelter to help keep the players dry and keep the winds out.  Thank you to Jim’s First for the donation of the frame.    It looks great.  Brian has also built shelving for our shed and now the shed looks so much tidier.  Brian you are a gem.

This week there are huge accolades going to the members of the Country Club who on Friday evening donated their spare cash to a very worthy lady Jo, who was employed at the club and operated the coffee machine in the mornings and the till at meal functions for Sarah and Cal.  Jo is very unwell and we wish her a speedy recovery.   This money is being passed on to Jo to assist her while not working.

Paying it Forward.

There was also a Christmas in July raffle, which was organised by the Croquet Club, in particular Barbara Miller.  This was won by Mr. & Mrs. Rod Winchcombe, who at the end of the evening so graciously donated the hamper back to the croquet club,.  We then donated this lovely hamper onto Jo with their permission.  There are so many kind and wonderful people in the club and we thank you sincerely..

MEN’S BOWLS

Thursday

36 bowlers turned up as the rain held off and we were able to play 2-4-2. A new member, Steve Nicholson, partnered Geoff Oddy to a 2-game, 36-up outcome, to win them the meat, with Ken Holyoake and Rob Prentice, runners-up. The chocolate went to Norm Gage, Andre Gil, and Mike O’Meara.

Saturday

Just 10 intrepid bowlers braved the elements, allowing two triples and two pairs to vie for a fortune. Rhonda Porter (Willeton) and Ian Creagh were the best on the day, with Butch Sharpe not far behind.

Hi riders,

Regular MTB ride leaves 4.30pm every Wed, weather permitting, from Dunsborough Country Club.

Approx 1.5 to 2 hours ride, cross country, 25 kms give or take a few kms.

BYO lights essential.

This replaces our 6.30 am ride over winter, as we  would rather sleep in at the moment!

Cheers, Helen
