‘Yoga for over 50’s’ at Dunsborough and Districts Country Club, for ladies AND gentlemen ~
Beginners welcome !
In the words of local Dunsborough resident and yoga instructor Mandy Lancellas ‘I thrive on encouraging those who feel they ‘can’t do yoga’ to become those who can, by exploring the multiple benefits for the body, mind and soul. Gentle Hatha Yoga enables the body and mind to find calm and focus in the present moment. It is through breath awareness that we manage to realign our physical body with the mental and energetic systems. Our main focus is safe and effective alignment, to create awareness, strength and mobility. As we grow older the saying of ‘what we do not use, we loose’ begins to resonate with us more and more and so its vital to keep the body moving in a gentle and safe way, maintaining a healthy range of movement throughout our senior years and reducing the risks of injury.’
Mandy invites anyone who is interested to join this gentle and safe yoga practice, suitable for all levels including beginners and people over 50.
Date: Wednesdays
Time: 9:00 am
Venue: Dunsborough and Districts Country Club
Cost: $15
* Please bring a blanket for relaxation (as well as your own yoga mat if you have one).
* Yoga mats available for hire $3
For any queries (or to book a yoga mat) please call Mandy Lancellas 047 505 7294

MEN’S BOWLS
Last Tuesday, our 1st division side in the Southwest Bowling League took away 3 1/2 points, playing Binningup away. This places the side at the top of the SWBL ladder after two games.
Our second side in the SWBL 3rd Division won on both rinks, playing Eaton at home, which places them second to Busselton in the 3rd division.
Our third side also came away with 4 points, both rinks beating Binningup away, so that we are, similarly, second to Busselton in the 4th division.
There was no Thursday peg-draw due to the Ladies’ Carnival.
On Saturday our men played two games in the Leeuwin League. At home, Dunsborough White beat Dunsborough Gold 49-22 to take them to second place on the ladder just behind Augusta Blue. Dunsborough Gold are in tenth place while Dunsborough Blue, who only won on one rink playing Margaret River White away, are in seventh place.
More details of league games on the Pennants noticeboard.
It was great to see 30 players taking part in the Mr B Championship Triples over the last two Sundays. After some closely contested games in the Round Robin series Ed Hoemberg, and Geoff Oddy, retained their Triples title, this time partnered by Don Henderson. They proved a little too good for Terry South, Wayne Barnett, and Garry Robinson in a well-supported final.

CROQUET NEWS
Last Tuesday afternoon the croquet players were invited to a beautiful afternoon tea at Bev’s place who is the owner of Wonky Windmill Farm.
It was a delightful afternoon visiting the animals and just ambling around the farm area after the most delicious scones and cream and other delights.
Bev, Many thanks to your wonderful generosity and you are the best host, making everyone feel welcome. Some of the croquet players had a hit on the lawn area trying for a hole in one hoop. Well our brilliant Barbara M scored 2 and won a bottle of red, and as she does not indulge it was shared later with a few left-over players who most probably outstayed their welcome. But true to Bev’s style there were no complaints from her.
Thank you again Bev.
Croquet Golf Pennants
The golf pennants continue with one more week to play and then the pressure is off for another year. Play has been tight amongst all teams with Moorabinda, Bunbury in first place. Come on team Red this is your chance to take over and maybe keep the shield. Again, no pressure.
The weather is improving so hopefully we can enjoy some beautiful days playing croquet
On Saturday night at the Quiz night Croquet was well represented with an overflow of 3 tables. Frances assisted the quiz master, again volunteering for the club. Thank you, Frances.

TENNIS NEWS
The article (attached together with photos) which appeared in the Busselton-Dunsborough Mail on Wednesday 24 October 2018 outlines the success of Dunsborough Primary School and its PE teacher, Louisa Chapman with the primary school being named the Most Outstanding School at the 2018 WA Tennis Industry Awards Night held at Optus Stadium in Perth. The primary school has aligned itself with Tennis Australia qualified coach, Paige Newhill, at the Dunsborough & Districts Country Club courts. The school has incorporated tennis into its PE program for all year levels.
Dunsborough Ladies have also entered a team in the Midweek South West Ladies Pennant Competition and were successful in their first match in Margaret River last week. (photo attached) This is a great opportunity for players to meet and compete against other Clubs on a competitive basis. The pennants are played on Thursdays commencing at 9.30 am.
