Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons

“HAPPENINGS AROUND THE CLUB”

A big THANK YOU to John Cunneen for all his help behind the bar while I was away on holiday.  Thanks John.

Welcome to the new 2017-2018 Membership Card.

The Membership Card is being introduced this year with a scannable barcode that allows members to earn loyalty points when they purchase from the bar.

The Membership Card should be produced at Point-of-Sale to accumulate loyalty points (think Frequent Flyers). A member will earn 1 loyalty point for every dollar spent at the bar (For redemption purposes every 10 loyalty points will have a value of $1).

Members are encouraged to use their card when purchasing at the bar as it effectively represents a 10% discount on the value of the purchase. Members are also encouraged to accumulate loyalty points over time. Apart from being able to redeem Rewards at the bar (minimum 200 loyalty points), other Rewards such as “Dinner for 2 at The Club” and “Annual membership subscriptions” are available. It is also planned that voucher Rewards can be redeemed with participating Club Sponsors.

The Membership Card is aimed at encouraging regular visitors to become members – even if only as a Non-Playing member. Not only can they then benefit from the “discounted” bar prices, but they will also be eligible to participate in the existing Friday member’s jackpot draw.

Current Rewards

It is anticipated that more Reward offerings will be added to the list as time progresses and we receive feedback from members and sponsors.

  • 200 points $20 discount on a bar purchase (no cash refund available).

  • 500 points Dinner for 2 @ “The Club” (value of $50).

  • 500 points $50 Club Membership renewal at the start of the membership year.

  • 2500 points $250 Full Club Membership renewal at the start of a membership year (sub-memberships will be manually catered for if required e.g. Bowls or Tennis).

BAR PRICING

Unfortunately, on occasions and due to ever increasing prices the Club needs to reassess the bar prices and adjust them accordingly. So as of the 1st of June a number of our bar items will have increased in price. We are advising Members of this change so there isn’t any confusion when you next come to purchase anything over the bar after the 1st of June.  Thank you.

Membership Cards

Please note that the Membership Cards for the Dunsborough Country Club will NOT be sent out to Members until MID JUNE as your cards are a little different this year. They are a Rewards Card as well as a Membership Card and next week in the Newsletter there will be a section telling you how they work and how they benefit you being a Member.

MENS’ & LADIES’ BOWLS

Tuesday Mixed Bowls

We had 18 keen bowlers and a great day was had by all.  Jill Winter playing extremely well scored 16 points to go into the final with Norman Gage (6 points) and Garry Robinson (5 points).  Jill carried over her form to win the day with Garry second and Norm third.

See you all next week.

Butch & Sharon Sharpe

Thursday

Johnny Tucker and Wendell Hoover combined impeccably to take the meat, with Garry Davies and Bill Pearce not far behind.

The chocolate went to Graeme Winter and Brian Logan.

(Geoff Benn’s wrong-bias tin rattled more than usual)

Saturday

Jill Winter programmed three-bowl triples on three rinks on Saturday.

Ken Littlefair’s change of allegiance paid dividends when he skippered Rob Prentice and Gary Robinson to capture first prize.

Not far behind in second place, also with two wins, were Mick Finney, skippering two maidens, Sharon Sharpe and Gail Barry.

(It was good to see Mike O’Mara leave the bar, join us for the fun, and bowl very well)

CROQUET NEWS

“Well did you see the best? I certainly did.

Marty Clarke and the Golf Croquet Country Squad played golf croquet at Dunsborough and District Country Club last Saturday( all day}

We saw Golf Croquet played at the highest level by the best 10 golf players in Western Australia including the current Australian champion. The players demonstrated power, finesse, accuracy ,jump shot from the boundary , touch  and golf croquet played at a level not normally seen at our club.

They played some doubles and then later a couple of pro-am games involving some of our players.

Marty also provided a coaching session for Busselton and Dunsborough clubs on the Friday. Those who attended this session learn t  a lot of the basic skills.

Many of our players came to watch this.

Special thanks to Karen and Rosie for supplying the refreshments throughout the day  including lunch and  to the others for helping in many ways. Also thanks to Raelene who stood in for me when I had to go to Moorabinda for Presidents meeting.

TENNIS NEWS

It has taken a great amount of consistent effort, however for those who have not been on or near the golf course or tennis courts, the new tennis courts are progressing well and can almost be called “courts”.  The fencing and gates is currently being completed and some fine weather would see the completion of the surface.  Some minor site works to ensure water run-off and landscaping will complete the task.  Once completed the extra court availability will make a huge difference to managing playing numbers.  We all look forward to the completion!
