Local Vintage

Dunsborough Band Local Vintage will be performing at the Dunsborough Country Club on Sunday 11th February from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.  Food and the bar facilities will be available throughout the performance.  Tickets $10 members, $15 non members.  Tickets are available through your sporting sections or at the bar.  Get a group together and come enjoy a great afternoon of music, dancing and fun.

MEN’S BOWLS

 

Tuesday 23rd January

Our 1st team came away with 2 points in the 11th round of the SWBL ,when they shared the aggregate away at Eaton, Gary Davies’ rink losing 16-30 while Ed Hoemberg’s four won 24-10. Our 1st team remains top of the 2nd division, 1 1/2 points ahead of Busselton Red.

Meanwhile, playing away at Collie, our 2nd team lost both games so remain 6th on the 3rd division SWBL ladder.

Wednesday 24th January

 There was a good turnout for the William Barrett Mixed Fours event played on both carpets with a good turnout of visiting clubs. Our own Wayne Barnett led three first-timers, Wendy Collins, Mike Finney, and Toby McCarthy, to triumph on the day, winning  all three games by a healthy margin. Runners-up were Maureen Hines, Merle Holmes, Garry Robinson, and Ian Creagh.

Thursday 25th January

There were 41 entries to Peter Cracknell’s peg-draw on a cloudless day. Brian Logan was joined by Busselton’s Bruce Edgar in winning the meat with 2+32, with Brian Marwick and Mick Finney coming second, 2+23. Wendell Hoover and Bill Hitsert enjoyed Mars bars.

LADIES BOWLS

LADIES PENNANTS JAN 23RD.

Dunsborough White:- Sue Chester, Jill Winter, Denise  Mott and May Armstrong, played

Dunsborough Blue:-  Maureen Hines, Helen Reynolds, Jem Coupar and Janice Hoover at Dunsborough.

It was a nail biting game, with J.Winter and M. Armstrong winning 13-7 against J. Coupar and H.Reynolds,            and M.Hines and J.Hoover winning 14-7, giving Blue the aggregate.

The Fours game was close all the way and ended up with a draw at 11 all.

This gave Dunsborough Blue 3 points to Duns. White 2.

However, with four more rounds to be played,  Dunsborough White is still on top of the Pennant ladder with 45 points, closely followed by Margaret River Gold on 43 and Augusta 40

Last Wednesday saw 18 teams of four playing in the William Barrett Open Mixed Fours competition, with

Wendy Collins, Mick Finney, Toby McCarthy and Wayne Barrett winning their three games  with 9points +16

closely  followed by Merle Holmes, Maureen Hines, Garry Robinson & Ian Creagh on 9 points + 12.

Third & fourth place getters were Ben Horwood, Elliott Woolf, Rob Ryding & Angela Russell from Perth on

6 points+17 and Kevin Gibb, Brian Marwick, Gaye Gibb & Lorraine Lewis  on 6 points+14 Congratulations to             all winners.

The first round of the Championship Pairs will be on Wednesday February 5th, with the Final on February 21st

Also Championship Singles commences on Wednesday February 14th with Final on Friday February 23rd

The Tyres & More Mixed  Pairs Championship will be held on Saturday April 7th & Sunday April 8th so make sure you keep that weekend free.

TENNIS NEWS

A huge thank you to all of those who spent time on Sunday 28 January assisting the fundraising effort for DDCC Tennis Section at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle.  All of the work was carried out with great humour and so many people during the day made light of the work.  The weather was pleasant and some of the shoppers made the day very interesting. 

 Thank you to the early risers, Terry Hodges, Rob & Bay Wilson, Yvee & Ray Hirst, followed during the day by Lorraine Lewis, Nita Pratt, Barb Noble, Lorraine Slater, David Murrish, Ralph Upton, Jim Davies, Gwen and Arnold Bosenberg, Paige Newhill with helpers, Claire & Bridget, Kim Pearce, Bob Waterman, John McCallum and Brian & Kerry Walker.   The clean up shift was Brian & Kerry, Terry, Gwen & Arnold, John and Rob & Bay with that wonderfully useful ute.   Thanks also to Bruce Taylor who was up at 5.30 am to enable us to load and be on our way on Sunday.  Thank you to all that gave their time – what a fabulous crew!

CYCLE NEWS

HI Riders,

Thanks to those who came and helped our on Sunday with some Trail Maintenance and clearing. Some trails are scratch free, others still need attention, so look out for the next trail care day.

Tonight’s MRORCA Summer Series is on at Dunsborough/ Meelup Trails , finishing at the Country Club for refreshments.

Happy to note that Dunsborough have overtaken MRORCA on the points ladder!

The Jackpot Draw was not won on Friday.  There will be two draws this week  The first Jackpot draw will be for $1000.  The second will be for $100.  Members must be financial for the 2017/18 membership year now and present to claim. The Jackpot is drawn between 5.30pm and 6.30pm in the Clubroom bar.
