Friday twilight bowls competition will run from 6pm – 7.15pm at a cost of $5.  Everyone is invited to attend what will be a fun and enjoyable evening.  The kitchen will still be open and meals will be available.

  • Bootleg Brewery Men’s Pairs Championship

The preliminary rounds of the Pairs Championship were played last Sunday in challenging conditions with 16 teams competing for the honour.

Four teams remain in each of the Major and Plate sections, these being:

Major       – Ed Hoemberg& Kelly Allsop Vs Merv Mott & Dennis Frost

– Butch Sharpe & Kevin Gibb Vs Ben Tas and Clive Williams

Plate        – Andre Gill & Han Queckfeldt Vs Mike Brown & Geoff Oddy

– Tim Sansom& Ralph Don Vs Wayne Barnett & Tom Reynolds

The semi-final and final rounds will be played next Sunday commencing at 10.30am with players required to be at the Club at 10.00am for a 10.15am rollup.

The support of members and their family/friends would be much appreciated to cheer on the competitors in this important Club event.

Come and enjoy watching these great games and stay for Tapas afterwards.

  • Professionals Men’s Singles Championship

PLEASE NOTE that the dates for this event have been brought forward to Sundays of the 14th and 21st of February. This enables us to have all Championship and Pennant events completed by the end of February.

The nomination form is now on the board together with the Conditions Of Play. Please nominate as soon as possible to assist me in the planning of this event.

I will require a considerable number of Markers for this event and seek your support in this matter. A list is on the board for those who can assist in this matter.

  • William Barrett Open Mixed Fours

This event is scheduled for Monday 22nd of February and current nominations indicate that it is gaining good support. Again your co-operation is sought in nominating now to enable Sue Chester & her organisers to plan for the event.

Note that the entry fee is $60 per team and any mixed combination is acceptable.

  • Traders Day Open Men’s Fours

This very popular event is scheduled for Thursday March 10th and is certain to attract a big field both locally and from other Clubs so get in early. The nomination form is already on the board for your immediate attention.

Note that this is a BYOL event and the entry fee is $60 per team. DRESS IS MUFTI. The normal Thursday Social Bowls will be cancelled for that day so why not make up a team instead and be part of this big prizes event.

Croquet News

A reminder there is a croquet busy bee on tomorrow, Wednesday 3rd February at 8.00am.  Your assistance is very appreciated.

Twilight Croquet:

Please arrive at about 5pm for a quick lesson, and then play until 6.15pm, finishing in time for the Friday Night meal. Cost will be $3 for members and $5 for DDCC social members and non-members. The golf croquet players will still be on the court when you arrive, so don’t think we have started without you.

Summer playing times:

Association Croquet: Tuesdays and Fridays 8.15 – 12.30. Newcomers welcome between 10.30 and 12.30 on Fridays. Tuition and equipment is available.

Golf Croquet:  Wednesday and Friday afternoon 3pm – 5pm. Names in by 2.45pm please. Cost is $3 per session for members, $5 per session for social members and non -members. Newcomers welcome to join anytime. Tuition and equipment available.

Vets Fixtures 2106

Mark has put up the 2016 fixture sheet on the notice board and it is now up to each potential player to complete their intention well before the match fixture deadline.

Our first game is at Capel on Monday 8  February.  Check in now.

The Combined Men’s and Ladies ‘Committees (Golf Section)  met on  Monday 1 st February  and the following items were noted and discussed:

 Fixtures for 2016 ready to go to Printer

A Sands Green Open 27 Hole Event is planned for the weekend of 14 and 15 August. Vicki Frost has a great Flyer ready to send out to Sand Greens Golf Clubs players inviting them to spend the weekend in Dunsborough  .

Let your friends know so they can mark it in their calendar.

  • Golf Cart/ Buggy Shed. We are asking all users if they would kindly identify their equipment with a name tag or ID by the end of February so that surplus clubs and bags etc can be stored  and or removed elsewhere so as to free up space for the coming season.  Some gear is from welcome donors and we need to  organize this as well. Our numbers and Members are growing.

  • A 100 Club Progressive Lottery is to be runby the Golf Section open to all during the Season. More details to follow soon.
  • A Quiz Night is being planned for a possible Saturday night around 15 October. More information to follow in the future.

 Congratulations to Mark Embry,Winner,  and Barry Guest ,Runner Up, for last Saturday’s  Stableford 14 Hole Golf . -Long Putt  No 18 , Barry Jackson.

The Buggy Storage shed needs cleaning out and there is un labelled golf gear stored in this area . The Committee are not sure if it has been donated to the club or it has just been forgotten.

We  are asking members to please collect before the end of February when the Spring Cleaning and Clearing out of this space will be done.

  Stuff not collected will be discarded at the Committee’s discression.

 If you know of someone who is away or does not receive this newsletter, can you please inform them of the Commmittee’s decision and ask them to get in touch with the Club Manager Bruce with instructions on what to do with their stuff.

 Could those wishing to leave  golf equipment  in the shed please label it with their name and a contact phone number.

Friday night meals will now be available from 5.30pm with last orders by 8.00pm.  Hamish is offering a selection of cooked to order dishes.  From next week, tapas style dishes will also be available on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

Friday Night Jackpot

The Members Jackpot was not won on Friday night.  This week’s jackpot will be $700.  Members must be financial and present to claim.  The Jackpot is drawn between 5.30 pm – 6.30 pm in the Club rooms.
