MEN’S BOWLS
Janice Paddick-Hoover
The results for Champion of Champions played at Augusta over the weekend are as follows:
Point system for the club for a total of 29 points.
Singles 8 points Vets 5 Novice 3
Pairs 5 Triples 5 Fours 3
Despite it being announced that the Dunsborough club came equal 3rd on the ladder with Cowaramup with each club on 26 points and it had to go to ends won you can see that we came in 3rd quite clearly. Naturally I informed the organisers of their mistake.
So, Dunsborough came in 3rd on 29 points which was two points behind the equal first placings of Margaret River and Augusta. After seeing who won more games it was announced MR as the champion club for this season.
Kevin Gibb won the most prestigious title of League Champion. He lost one game and so did the runner up from Cowaramup; Gary Smith. Kevin had more shots up than Gary.
Runners-up for the club was Kelly Allsop in the Vets section. He was R/u to Augusta due to the fact that Augusta defeated Nannup by 21/zip and finished on 9 points with 34 shots, Kelly had 9 points and 21 shots.
Geoff Odddy and Mike Brown were R/up in Pairs behind MR, and our triples team of Geoff Benn, Bill Pearce and Dennis Frost became the r/u behind MR also. Our fours and our novice gained 3 points each for our club.
Congratulations to all the players and a huge congrat to Kevin Gibb.
The ladies championships start today.

CROQUET NEWS
Visit from Bunbury Central
Last Thursday, a small group of experienced Association Croquet players from Bunbury Central Croquet Club thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Dunsborough to play A/C.
We mixed the players from both clubs and played 3 Rounds of 14 pt Association Croquet Handicap Doubles ie. once only round the 6 hoops and peg out. Partners were changed each round and individual hoop scores were kept by each player.
The player with the highest individual score was David Bell, scoring 17 out of a possible 21. Vi Bebbington fron Bunbury came a close second scoring 16 points.
We enjoyed morning tea after Round 1, lunch after Round 2 and the Presentation tea after the third round. In all a good day.
Thank you to the players who made sweet things. A thank you too to the Bowlers who helped put out our new barriers between the croquet lawns and bowling greens.
The Croquet Section is currently preparing
- to play in its first Golf Croquet SW Pennants competition – first game this week
- to hold a Croquetwest Division 2 A/C Singles Tournament, 29th and 30th April

Last weekend the DDCC was the venue for the 2017 X- Adventure Triathlon event taking place on the Saturday and Sunday.
There were over 3,000 people visiting the venue so if each visitor tells one other person then the DDCC gets over 6000 people making great publicity for the Club, not withstanding the social media links and iphone photos.
There may even be some new golf members from the exposure.
Even the kangaroos featured !
Thanks to available Golf members Brian Morris, Barry Jackson, Ken Littlefair, Keith Rowell ,Peter Jordan, Dot Carmody,Beth Jackson and Ron Carmody who did a great team job over the two days as Volunteer Car Park Attendants parking some 600 vehicles on several fairways of the course .
We raised over $1,000 which will help with the new Tee Signs on the course, updating of machinery, and continuing renovation of the course. Regrassing the approach to No 14 Green is a current example.
