The Dunsborough & Districts Country Club officially passed the 800 members last week.  It is great to see the Club moving forward and the membership increasing.

New Club shirts are available to be purchased.  If you are interested please email me your size and I will order them for you.  They are $35 each.

The Club will not be having the traditional Melbourne Cup luncheon on this year.  It will be a very informal “Come as you are casual Cup” No dress up required.  We will be having the race televised, sweep tickets and mystery bet tickets available.  There will be a choice of Wagyu beef or chicken burger with a pint of beer, glass of wine or champagne for $15. Come along and enjoy the day.  All are welcome to attend.

BOWLS NEWS

 Last week’s Men’s Social Bowls was won by Ralph Don and Merv Mott

Runners Up were Clem Taylor, Hans Queckfeldt and Allan Ellis

The Consolation prize went to L. Gulberd, Bill Marwick and Rob Prentice.

 The nomination form for the Cape Financial Planning Open Mixed Fours (Wednesday 25th November) is on the notice board and you are encouraged to nominate.

 The Professionals Men’s Championship Fours is not far away Sunday 22nd November) and this season will see a new approach to nominating for this event. You are advised to see the noticeboard for details and I seek your support in trialling this new idea this season.

 Today will see the second round of the Bankers Club which will be held in Dunsborough.

 A reminder that Men’s Social Bowls is cancelled this week due to the women’s Bowls Carnival.

Tournament Success

Raelene Willis and Terry Herd played in the Moorabinda October 2015 Singles Tournament

in Bunbury at the weekend.. After over 12 hours’ Round Robin play in 5 games each, 3 players had won 4 of their matches. After a net hoop count, Terry was named Runner-up and Raelene third in the block. Raelene was very pleased with her play in the game where she had beaten the eventual block winner!

Twilight Croquet: This will commence on Friday, Nov 6th. Please have you names in at 5pm, and after a short introduction for any newcomers, games will start at 5.15pm. They will finish at 6.15pm, in time for the Friday night meal. The cost will be $5 for social and non- members and $3 for full members. If you arrive and there are already players on the court please don’t think we have started without you as our weekly Friday Golf croquet session is played from 3pm until 5pm.

The Croquet Section AGM will be held on November 20th. Nomination forms will be on the board and must be completed before that date and handed to Vaile.

Summer playing times:                                                                                                Association Croquet: Tuesdays and Fridays 8.15 – 12.30. Newcomers welcome between 10.30 and 12.30 on Fridays. Tuition and equipment is available.

Golf Croquet:  Wednesday and Friday afternoon 3pm – 5pm. Names in by 2.45pm please. Cost is $3 per session for members, $5 per session for social members and non -members. Newcomers welcome to join anytime. Tuition and equipment available.

Ian Potts has sent out the Agenda and Nomination Forms for the up coming  2016 Men’s Golf Season.  There are also copies on the Club Notice Board Men’s Golf Section- Please take the time to read and support as necessary.

This is your Club  –  please exercise your privilege of Membership and give it your full support.

Golf will continue as per our fixture booklet  through to the end of December,

Special Thanks   to ALL Volunteers for their time and support  with Parking the  several hundred cars  during the Cape to Cape Bike Event last weekend.

Thanks for a job well done.   The gold coin donations will boost our work for the coming year.

Jackie Gleeson- “Obviously the deer on the fairway has seen you tee off before and knows that the safest place to be when you play  is right down the middle.”

I think our kangaroos at Dunsborough probably think the same!   Cheers.

The Tennis Section are fund raising for new tennis courts (currently the ‘Superpit’ out the back!) and would appreciate support from members of the Country Club. If you are interested in winning one of the fantastic prizes on offer, please see one of the Bar Staff or a ‘Tennis’ person to get your ticket (or book of tickets if you feel you can help us sell the tickets). The number of tickets has been limited to 200 so you have a very good chance of winning one of the prizes. Don’t hesitate too long and miss the opportunity of tennis excitement.

Friday Night Jackpot

The Members Jackpot was not won on Friday night.  This week’s jackpot will be $200.  Members must be financial and present to claim.  The Jackpot is drawn between 5.30 pm – 6.30 pm in the Club rooms.
