BOWLS NEWS

MEN’S BOWLS

Southwest Bowling League

After nine rounds our first team retained their place at the top of the 2nd division ladder being just half a point ahead of Busselton Red, having claimed four points, beating Binningup at home last week 49-33. Our second team dropped to sixth on the 3rd division ladder when they lost away to first-placed Boyanup, 26-51.

Leeuwin League

Three of our four teams played the 9th round last Saturday which saw Dunsborough Blue retain their position at the top of the single twelve-team ladder when they beat Margaret River Gold 46-29 at home. Dunsborough Blue are now one and a half points ahead of second placed Margaret River Green. Meanwhile, Dunsborough White lost by just 3 shots to Augusta White away but retained their 5th position on the ladder, one and a half points ahead of Cowaramup Gold. The first Pennants’ game played this season away at Nannup found the 13-second green just too difficult for Dunsborough Red who lost 29-43, leaving them just ahead of Dunsborough Gold (who play on 6 January) in ninth position.

Thursday peg-draw

A good turnout on a perfect day saw Yardey paired with Bill Hitsert to take the meat with 27 points-up. The Mars bars were collected by Chris Adams and Trevor Palmer.

Friday contest

Two of our Pennant fours played against two top fours from this season’s Corporate bowlers. We gather one of our fours won comfortably while the other scraped home by the skin of their teeth. Good fun was enjoyed by all in this attempt to draw more social bowlers into the Men’s Bowls section.

LADIES BOWLS

PENNANTS AT DUNSBOROUGH DEC 19TH

Dunsborough White:- Sue Chester, Gail Barry, Denise Mott and May Armstrong scored 6 points against Margaret River Gold 0 points.

This puts Dunsborough White at the top of the Pennant competition.

Dunsborough Blue :- Maureen Hines, Jean Kelly, Sharon Sharpe and Jem Coupar scored 4 1/2 points against Margaret River Green 1 1/2 points.

SOCIAL BOWLS AND CHRISTMAS WIND UP 20TH DEC,

17 ladies dressed in their Christmas gear and bling played triples with one pair.

The one pair of Pat Manton and Jean Kelly were the winners, who then gave a very good rendition of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”

After the game, 28 ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch, catered for by the chef, Calan.

Happy Christmas and New year to all.
