As from last Thursday we now officially have two full size croquet courts. Thank you to David Morris who did all the calculations and pegging out, and to Steve Mackiewicz for marking the lines. A big thank you also to all those who have helped the croquet section along the way to realise this project.

Saturday Croquet: Two weeks ago the croquet section introduced an extra playing session, on a Saturday. Numbers have been small but we hope to see these grow when more are aware that this option is available. The type of croquet played on the day will be decided by those that turn up. Please be there at 1.45pm to put your name in. Play will commence at 2pm. New players are welcome. Equipment and coaching is available. Chef Hamish will have tapas available from 4pm, so plan to stay for a drink and meal.

Twilight Croquet:

Please arrive at about 5pm for a quick lesson, and then play until 6.15pm, finishing in time for the Friday Night meal. Cost will be $3 for members and $5 for DDCC social members and non-members. The golf croquet players will still be on the court when you arrive, so don’t think we have started without you.

Men’s Golf Section

Newsletter   26 January, 2016

The Men’s Summer Golf Group have had several games on the newly renovated greens and after the recent three plus inches of rain, the greens are shaping up very nicely.  It is possible to do a up and back scrape and send the putt on its way with a desired result.

The approaches to the greens have firmed up and the art of a good chip  shot is something for all of us still to fine tune  now.

The rain has allowed the  fairways to have a tinge of green as well.

Leaf material in some of the drains and wind blown leaves are still a problem but we have several spare rakes available any time you have an hour to spare.

Coming Wednesday and Saturday games for this week will be still 14 holes with a 1.00 pm start.
