Yoga is back ON ! from next Wednesday, 29th August

‘Yoga for over 50’s’ at Dunsborough and Districts Country Club for ladies AND gentlemen !!

Beginners welcome !

In the words of local Dunsborough resident and yoga instructor Mandy Lancellas ‘I thrive on encouraging those who feel they ‘can’t do yoga’ to become those who can, by exploring the multiple benefits for the body, mind and soul. Gentle Hatha Yoga enables the body and mind to find calm and focus in the present moment. It is through breath awareness that we manage to realign our physical body with the mental and energetic systems. Our main focus is safe and effective alignment, to create awareness, strength and mobility. As we grow older the saying of ‘what we do not use, we loose’ begins to resonate with us more and more and so its vital to keep the body moving in a gentle and safe way, maintaining a healthy range of movement throughout our senior years and reducing the risks of injury.’

Mandy invites anyone who is interested to join this gentle and safe yoga practice, suitable for all levels including beginners and people over 50.

Date: Wednesdays

Time: 9:00 am

Venue: Dunsborough and Districts Country Club

Cost: $15

* Please bring a blanket for relaxation (as well as your own yoga mat if you have one).

* Yoga mats available for hire $3

For any queries (or to book a yoga mat) please call Mandy Lancellas 047 505 7294

MEN’S BOWLS

Tuesday Mixed Social

We had another excellent turnout and a very good fun day again, 28 players enjoying it all.

Geoff Oddy was the first to qualify for the final followed by Sharon Sharpe and Steve Nicholson.  The final was played at an extremely high standard with the jack getting shifted throughout.  It was very interesting to watch.

Sharon was able to get a slight lead and held on to narrowly win the day.

Thanks to everyone for coming along.  Our Tuesday Mixed Bowls will be finishing up in 2 weeks time. October 2nd, so come along and enjoy the last two fun days.

Thursday

Half a century of bowlers enjoyed the spring sunshine but none were as good as ambidextrous Dennis Frost who was partnered by a visitor, Phil Higgins, to win the day. Runners-up were Ian Creagh and Tom Reynolds, while Mike Brown was ably assisted by John Cunneen to take the chocolate.

Saturday

Just six bowlers left their partners at home watching the AFL semi-final and enjoyed a game of three-bowl triples, donating the proceeds to the club. This will be the last Saturday event on the winter program.

Note that a Mixed Social Bowls program commences this Friday, September 28th. Names in by 12.30 for a 1pm. start. New bowlers encouraged. Dress, mufti.

Locker keys are available for anyone requiring a locker in the men’s change room. Please see the Secretary in this regard.

CROQUET

Stuart Dunn

It is with sadness that we mark the passing, earlier this month in Perth, of our friend, Stuart Dunn, a former Dunsborough Association Croquet player.

Stuart came late to Croquet. After years of supporting his wife, Norma in her AC playing and refereeing, then later dropping Norma off twice a week at the Club, one day Stuart was persuaded to stop and give Croquet a go. He did and was a natural.

Stuart represented Dunsborough in AC SW Pennants against Busselton, Halls Head, Bunbury Central and Moorabinda and in the Capes Shield competition against Busselton and Augusta. Stuart and Norma were benefactors to the Croquet Section buying a set of Croquet balls and providing wine for Croquet Section events. Stuart could also be relied upon, as the photo shows, to join in with fun croquet activities, like the AC 14pt competition – The Winter Cup.

Some years ago, deteriorating health forced Stuart and Norma to move to Perth, but we will remember Stuart above all for his ability to roll balls to any part of the Croquet lawn. RIP Stuart.
