Men’s Bowls

Janice Paddick-Hoover

January 19th.  There were 50 players.  Winners on plus 27 were C Williams and N Gage.  The runners-up on plus 23 were M Finney and R Prentice.  B Logan and E Hoemburg won the consolation while T South and B Sharpe went home with the MB award.

Please note that due to lack of interest the proposed mixed Australia Day bowls has been cancelled.  The normal men’s bowls will continue on that day as usual.  This is unfortunate, we need to support these celebrations, get together and have fun.

Tyres and More Mixed Pairs Championship.

Jean and Clint Kelly were runners-up on 12 points to the team of Merv Mott and Janice Hoover who went through the two weeks without losing a match.  But it was not easy.  The games were very hard fought and the pair was lucky to win a couple of them.

The sponsor of this championship, Nick Stone, was at the conclusion of the event.  He spoke on how long the company has sponsored the Mixed Pairs and how he will be happy to continue with this support.  If anyone needs anything to do with their car, please pop around to Tyres and More.  “We are a friendly bunch” he said.  Many thanks to Nick for attending and speaking to all those present.

Visit to Bunbury Central Croquet Club

Terry, Raelene, Kate, Helen and Vaile visited Bunbury Central Croquet Club last Thursday, 19th January where we played 3 rounds of 14 point A/C games in mixed teams.

Raelene scored the greatest number of hoops for the day. Well done!

It was a memorable day for Vaile who “pegged out” for the first time!

We enjoyed the company of fellow A/C players from a different club and the visit made us appreciate how good our croquet facilities are and what a great job Raelene does as Greenkeeper.
