NEWSLETTER

Sunday saw the final round of the Professionals Men’s Singles played before a good crowd of appreciative spectators.

Kevin Gibb played consistently well throughout the two-day event to emerge victorious over many-times past Champion and Master of Bowls, Kelly Allsop.

The plate was a tussle between Clint Kelly and Mike Brown with Clint finishing too good for Mike.

All final games were closely contested and were a great testament to the excellent standard of bowls being demonstrated by our Club players. The many spectators present were provided with excellent entertainment throughout the competition.

My personal thanks to the Markers who supported the event. Their diligence and persistent effort throughout the two-day event ensured a professional check on the proceedings.

Thanks also to Tom Reynolds and Dennis Frost for acting as umpires.

Our Club acknowledges with sincere thanks the sponsorship of this event by “The Professionals” and their ongoing financial support in other areas. Professionals are a major sponsor of our Bowls section and we recognise this with much appreciation.

The William Barrett Day was a great success yesterday and a credit to the ladies Bowls section that organised the event – particularly Sue Chester as captain ably assisted by her Vice captains Sharon Sharpe and Jem Coupar. An excellent atmosphere prevailed throughout the day, evidenced by the jovial comments and laughter emanating from the greens.
