Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons
Selling DDCC in the Dunsborough Shopping Centre!
Last Saturday DDCC and its sporting sections were on show at the Dunsborough Centrepoint Shopping Centre. On its first Promotion Drive, the Club set out to bring the Club to the people of Dunsborough highlighting its assets and attractions.
The sporting sections were available to talk about the sports played at the Club. Management was there to talk about facilities – dining room, bar, events and hire. The display attracted attention and the enthusiasm of the club members talking to members of the public was apparent.
Thanks to Vicki frost for getting the Club pamphlets out on time and to all those members across the sections, who volunteered to be available to spread the message about how positive an experience it is to be a member of the Club. Joan Embry, Frances Lismore and Vicki were fearless in face of the public, they approached anyone and everyone!
As a result of the Membership Promotion we already have 2 new members who came up to the Club on Sunday and joined.
Well done!

CROQUET NEWS
Were you wondering about the beautifully arranged tables set up in the Sportsmen’s Bar on Friday? Not a wedding, but the annual Croquet Presentation Dinner. Lovely floral decorations were by Raelene Willis.
About 30 croquet players, sponsors, and invited guests enjoyed the dinner (thanks Colin and staff), getting dressed up, and catching up with each other from the different croquet codes.
Three players took off most of the awards -think Max Kewish (GC Singles, Ricochet Doubles, & Jumps); Terry Herd (AC Singles, AC Doubles) and Raelene Willis (Ricochet Doubles, R.Up AC Singles). However the goodies were spread around with Barbara Miller & David Chopping (GC Doubles), Glen Mackiewicz (GC R-Up singles) , Vaile Drake (AC Doubles), Steve Mackiewicz (President’s Award) and Kate Speedy (most improved) also taking home of trophy.

BTC Wins 1st Whittaker Challenge Trophy
…….but only just
Busselton 13 Sets 114 games to Dunsborough 11-105
In the reverse tie of the Whittaker Challenge Series played at Dunsborough,
BTC won enough sets to just secure their name on the Trophy in the inaugural season,
but Dunsborough were the Tie 2 winners with 8 sets 65 to 4-51.
Dunsborough were keen to reverse their 9-3 loss in the first round and bolstered their team with the inclusion of two top players in Pat Mulhearn and Greg Banfield.
If they had have won just one more set the result would have gone their way on count back of games.
Doug and Guido won the clutch 3rd set for BTC which was decisive in securing the win.
Pat Mulhearn lived up to his star import rating by winning all 4 of his matches and was awarded best player on the day.
Allan and Brian were also strong contributors for DTC with 3 wins each.
Doug Hutchison was the star for Busselton with 3 wins & a loss in a tiebreaker.
The tie was a nail-biter all day but played in good spirit and humour. It was 3 sets all at the halfway mark.
Five out of the 12 sets went to a tie-breaker.
We were honoured to have Annette Whittaker present the Trophy accompanied by daughter Kara.
Thanks to Dunsborough for the hospitality all day and the nibbles after the game. It was much appreciated by all.
Pat & Doug won bottles of wine as their team’s best players….donated by DTC.
A big thanks to Ralph and Brian in supporting this concept and with its organisation.
Tie 1: BTC won 9-63 to 3-41
Tie 2: DTC won 8-65 to 4-51
