Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons

Friday Night Dinner

As you may or not be aware our chef Hamish Mcleay has left the Club to pursue other interests.  I would like to thank Hamish for all his time and effort he put into the Club and for the great meals he provided.  I wish him all the best.

In the interim while looking for a replacement chef I will be donning my chef jacket again with my wife Sharon to provide the Friday night meal.  It will be two courses for $25. You will not leave hungry.  Menu is below.  Please come along and keep the Friday night happening and supporting the Club.

For this Saturday & Sunday unfortunately there will not be any meals available.  I hope this will only be a short term issue until we find a replacement chef.  Thank you.

Tuesday Bowls – Butch Sharpe

We had an excellent turn out on the day.  28 keen bowlers which is a record for Tuesday.  Weather was great and so were the bowls. Jill Winter, Butch Sharpe, Ken Holyoake and Geoff Oddy played off in the final. The final was of very high standard, no-one could score having the mat so ended in a draw for them all. Thanks everyone for making this day fun and enjoyable.

Thursday  Bowls – I Creagh

Winners were G Benn and Hank de Boer with the Runners-up being R Prentice and R Wilson.  The Consolation prize went to Domenic and I Creagh whilst the MB Award was thrown to N Gage and G Winter.

Saturday  Bowls – N Gage

Dash for Cash concludes. Pennants season draws nigh.

39 players all-told, including visitors, competed in this event over the winter period, some only once or twice due to holiday travel or the inclement weather locally.

Another family victory resulted last Saturday when Sharon Sharpe paired up with Ed Bunbury to win the aggregate, with husband, Butch Sharpe, and visitor Kay from Rockingham, a close second.

Andre Gil and Ken Holyoake had shared top spot on the ladder after the 18 weeks of competition and chance would have it that they were paired to play each other after the drinks break over 12 ends. Andre and Ralph Don pipped Ken and Dennis Frost by a few shots.

After the event, our Bowls Chairman, Dennis Frost, kindly presented first prize for the Saturday Mixed competition to the worthy winner Andre, with the second prize going to Ken.

Next Saturday there will be a fun game between the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers which will take the format of a Pennants rink competition. Put your names up a.s.a.p. so that the three selectors can choose teams. Wear mufti but include AFL colours in your apparel. Start at 1 pm. prompt to finish in time for AFL Preliminary final (those who elect not to play Pennants this year are welcome to take part).

Last Thursday the men received their new club shirts and enjoyed a great steak bun thanks to Gibby and Butch.  Before the shirts were handed out everyone watched the “Project Runway” models who were Mike Brown, Wendell Hoover, Rob Pollard and Rod Winchcombe strutting their stuff as they modelled the shirts.  They all did a great job.  Thanks also to Gay Gibb for helping on the day.

bowls-shirts

There are still some shirts to be claimed.  Wendell will be taking them to bowls on Thursdays for those who have missed out.

Remember that these shirts are sponsored by Ray Green, Trevor’s Carpets, are for pennant players only at the cost of $5 however if you would still like one at the cost of $45 this can be arranged.  Another order will be place within weeks and a sheet will be placed on the notice board.  Please add your name and size to the list.

Please note:

Ladies bowls will commence on 28th September
