Hello Members, Sponsors & Patron

HAVE YOU A COUPLE OF HOURS TO SPARE???

The Men & Ladies’ Golf Section are running a Sandgreen Weekend of Golf on 13 & 14th August.  We are expecting 100 men & ladies so any help would be greatly appreciated, there are jobs for all.  A roster sheet is on the Ladies Bowls board where you can add your name.

Further enquiries contact – Nancy Williams, Vicki Frost or Ron Carmody

– GARDEN MAINTENANCE-

The new garden area that was recently landscaped is growing well, but so are the weeds!!

Rob Pollard has asked that any member who has a little spare time – even only a few minutes – to please spend it pulling weeds. These may be placed in the bins near the kitchen.

The garden is growing well & we will see the reward come spring but currently we need to go to war against the weeds.

Sunday Social Bowls will be on 24th July (weather dependant) between 2.00pm & 4.00pm and will run until September 11th. Mike O’mara will be running the day.  Bowlers of all abilities are encouraged to attend.  For those who are not regular bowlers this will be the perfect platform to take the next step or get in some practice before the Corporate Bowls season begins.  $5 entry with prizes for 1st & 2nd.  Tapas will also be available.  Come along and enjoy a casual, fun Sunday at the Club.

Potger

The Keith Potger show on Sunday, August 7th is now sold out.  Thank you to all the sections for their support.  It will be a great show.

Bowls News

The weather has had a bit of an influence in playing or not playing bowls this week. It felt much better to stay home, in front of the fire and reading a terrific book, than making the decision to battle and enjoy the elements.
A few people turned out on Tuesday and a few more on Thursday. The sky was pretty dark on Thursday and threatened but the few and the brave walked out onto the green.
The winners were D Frost and B Buttsworth ahead of H DeBoer, L Thomas and T South.

Croquet News

croquet

Recently we were asked to show a group of 6 the ins and outs of croquet, during conversation I discovered this group had played not only croquet but bowls and tennis during the preceding days. This group which was a family from Dardanup plus 2 teenage visitors from America where impressed by the facility (which we enjoy)plus the low cost of entertaining a family. They were also very appreciative of the help extended to them by all sections. Our picture shows them concentrating on the next shot.
