Have A Go Day
Dear Sections and Committee,
I wanted to thank you ALL for your contribution to yesterday’s open day at DDCC –
Bowls, Croquet, Golf, Bikes & Bike Shed guys, it was darn hot out there for you all, and you did a great job helping those who wanted to try your sports.
Mah-jong had the best spot in the air conditioning, and by the flow of people interested (or wanting to keep cool) you had a successful day.
A big thank you to Ron C. from Golf who was there early (alone) setting up in the heat, huge commitment to your Club Ron and very much appreciated.
Thank you to all volunteers & committee who gave up their Sunday and helped promote the club,
Vicki your fingers were busy on your computer signing up the new members, well done.
Jess , who took a tumble while running in the early morning was a Trojan all day with her injuries giving her grief. Well done Jess.
Regards
Helen Rowell

BOWLS NEWS
MEN’S BOWLS
Leeuwin League
Dunsborough Gold played a 9th round game against Cowaranup Maroon on 6th January and came away with 4 points, Brian Buttsworth’s rink winning 17-9 and Clive Williams four by 23-12.
With two rounds to go before the finals are played, Dunsborough Blue is top of the 12-team ladder, being just 1/12 points ahead of Margaret River Green; Dunsborough White remain in 5th place, Dunsborough Red in 9th place and Dunsborough Gold in 10th place. The Saturday’s game between Margaret River Green and Dunsborough Blue may prove critical, for if Dunsborough Blue retain their lead by coming away with at least 2 points at Margaret River than they are likely to retain their place at the top of the ladder (both teams have weaker opponents at home on 3 February, the 11th and last pre-final round). Dunsborough White’s position, if maintained, would see them top of a 2nd division finals play-off, but they have a more difficult task as they meet Augusta Blue, in 3rd position, at home in the next round. Dunsborough Red and Dunsborough Gold could still reach the 2nd division play-offs but they too would need to win games against teams presently higher up on the single ladder.
Congratulations to Dennis Frost for being selected in the IZLL to be played in Dalwallinu.
Thursday peg-draw
A near-record 56 men participated in Thursday’s fun, with a visitor M.Seigert, partnering Brian Buttsworth and Clive Williams to take the meat with +29. Wayne Barnett, Rod Winchcombe and Roger Badains were not far behind in 2nd place with no fewer than five other teams winning both the games so that the consolation was won by just one shot up in the second game. Alan Legge, Keith Rowell and Les Munro worked hard for the chocolate.
LADIES BOWLS
Eight teams enjoyed playing their Triples Championship on the newly installed carpet, despite windy conditions making play tricky on the second day of play.
The outright winners of the event which was sponsored by Lindsay & Estelle Perry , were Sharon Sharpe, Judy Henderson and Christine Coyle who won all of their five rounds to score 15 points .
Runners up with four wins and 16 shots up were Daisy Grist, Denise Mott and Janice Hoover.
Also with four wins plus two shots up were Pam Brown, Wendy Collins and Helen Reynolds.
Congratulations and well done to the winners, and all those who participated
Sharon Sharpe, Judy Henderson Denise Mott, Daisy Grist

CYCLE NEWS
Hi riders,
Hope to see you tonight at the MRORCA Summer Series downhill ride. Meet at DDCC at 5.30, registrations close at 5.45pm, racing starts at 6pm.
See Facebook for more info.
Thanks to the members and sponsors who volunteered their time on Sunday for the Come and try day. It was enjoyed by all who came along!
We had a great turnout for our Curry and ride night, next one on Thurs Jan 25th.
If you have some time on Sunday Jan 28th, come along for a couple of hours for our trail care day from 8.30am at the sea container.
Note to riders, and apologies to golfers. The Give Way to Golfers signs mean that when golfers are teeing off, please wait until they have all finished, before riding past. Most of us riders did not understand the meaning of these signs.
See you out there on your bike!
Jess, Mike and Helen
