Friday twilight bowls competition will run from 6pm – 7.15pm at a cost of $5.  Everyone is invited to attend what will be a fun and enjoyable evening.  The kitchen will still be open and meals will be available.

CORPORATE BOWLS

The first round of the Corporate Bowls season has ended with Team Norton and White Shoe Shuffles taking out the overall honours.  Coming in second to Team Norton on Tuesday night was Plan B with Jackwackers third.  Fangsters came second on Wednesday night with Unbiased third.

Congratulations to all teams, it was a great first round, good fun, atmosphere and friendship.  Thanks to all the volunteers workers and staff who helped ensure a good round.

We will see everyone again for the second round which starts January 19th and 20th at 6pm.

SPONSOR RECEIPT WINNER

A competition has been run for all members of the club to enter a receipt from any of our Corporate Bowls sponsors, putting name and phone number on receipt and placing into a draw box.  It was said this would run for six weeks and so it was drawn on the last night of Corporate Bowls by Ryan from Artezan who also gave the fantastic price of $200 voucher.  This resulted in a win for four ladies who entered a receipt from Rivendell and the names on the receipt were Gaye, Lorraine, Marie and Janice.  Great prize, thanks to the sponsor and we will run this again.  Please support our sponsors.

Greens Renovations

This week  should see Holes 10 to 18 completely renovated to the final plan formula.

The Greens subcommittee is pleased with the progress to date and following this set of Holes being completed we will then do  Holes 1 to 9.

The programme has involved meetings, visits, sourcing of required materials, obtaining quotes, City of Busselton working plan discussions and allowing for several different green formulas to be trialled during the year making note of weather, playing surface, feedback from players, wear and tear , to arrive at a final playing surface formula.

The subcommiittee would like to thank players and members for their involvment in this process and look forward to the completion of the renovation programme well in time for the new 2016 Season.

Please note that because of the current work in  progress Holes 10 to 17 are closed until further notice .

Holes  1 to 9 are able to be used while we do work on Holes 10 to 17.

Following the completion of this half of the  renovation programme  we will then advise everyone of the change of playing holes available  while we complete stage two of the renovation of Holes 1 to 9.

Summer Golf continues with 14 holes being selected and played on Wednesday and Saturday with 12.00 noon hit off.

A bonus Penalty  Points system devised by the late Jay Are is being used during this summer season and makes for some interesting results.

Vets Delegates, Mark Embry and Ron Carmody attended the AGM at Capel last week and fixtures for the 2016 Season have been set.  Our DDCC Vets Men’s Day is on Friday

26 August.

May I take this opportunity on behalf of the Men’ s  Golf  Section to

Wish You One and All a Merry and Happy Christmas and a Prosperous and Healthy New Year.

2015 Junior Tournament

The Tennis section enjoyed Christmas Cheer and tapas prepared by Club chef, Hamish, on Saturday following Social Tennis.  The weather was perfect for tennis which attracted 24 players for the afternoon, including 4 visitors.  All joined in a social atmosphere in the Clubrooms later with partners joining the players.  As always, the tapas were a delight to all who attended.

The Inaugural Dunsborough Tennis Club Under 15 Junior Tennis Team won the South West Division Pennants Competition on Sunday 13 December – played at the Bunbury Tennis Club.  The team, coached by Paige Newhill, performed very well with exemplary behaviour and outplayed Bunbury who had previously beaten the team.  The young players were presented with a trophy following the match and certainly deserved their success.

Hi members,

Cycle members have been busy over the last week.

We have an updated map of the Country Club course attached, photo of MTB Santa on our Sunday XMAS ride last week, and for something different- photos of a caving day for your interest. Occasionally, we get off the bikes and do other activities. If you would like to get involved with exploring the many caves in the area, please let me know via membership@dunsboroughcycleclub.org.au and we can organise another day. We have an experienced caving leader who is more than happy to wedge us through tight places in order to experience different cave formations!

Planned for Sat Dec 26. Beach MTB ride at low tide towards Busselton. Morning ride to work off some excess food eaten the day before! Time TBA.

Regards, Helen Baker
