Happenings Around The Club

Management has approved of the purchase and installation of 70 solar panels which will save $6000 to $7000 on energy costs per annum, at current prices. This project will be funded from Club funds with a return of 20% which I think you will agree is better than bank interest.

Many thanks to Max Kewish for his thorough research on the many products available. Well done.

If you would like to take part in the Country Club AFL Tipping Competition this season please register at the bar or by emailing me at  Entry cost is $20.  All monies received will go out is prizes.  The more tipsters we get the better the prizes.  Registration closes 21st March 2018.

Tipping cards are being printed for each tipster.  Each week before the commencement of the first game to be played you must complete your tips.  This is done by putting a line through the side who you think will lose, leaving your chosen side visible.  If you are unable to do this you can send me your tips via email.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

The golf section had a successful sausage sizzle last Saturday at  Bunning’s fund raising for the Golf Section.

Thank you for your help and support – everything went off  extra well.

Some pics for the newsletter…

the funniest incident of the day was our ‘drive thru’ customer…. he came twice….

Our very sassy service assistant Loraine was very efficient on the day.

We had a successful day raising $1,144 net for the club.

Thanks to all volunteers on the day, we had a lot of laughs.

Our capable cooks Keith and Denis did an amazing job.

Attendance equalled the record when 57 players took part in last Thursday’s peg-draw. Geoff Benn and Rob Pollard were victors on the day, just one shot ahead of the runners-up Ed Hoemberg and Lindsay Blyth. Steve Kristiansen and Jim Holroyd enjoyed the chocolate. The contestants enjoyed a barbecue afterwards thanks to the monies collected during the year for wrong biases and fines for ‘inappropriate behaviour’. Garry Morris, on behalf of the Professionals, presented Dennis Frost with the sponsor’s prize for winning the Singles Championship, while Gary Davies received the Runner-up award.

Please check the sheets on the noticeboard and append your name if you wish to play in Leeuwin League and/or SWBL Pennants next season. With the AGM coming up next month there is also a list of Office Bearers for the 2018-19 season requiring proposers and seconders; don’t be shy.

These were held at Margaret River on Tues 13th March,

TRIPLES:- Dunsborough was represented by Sharon Sharpe, Judy Henderson and Chris Coyle.

They were winners on a countback from Margaret River and Augusta.

PAIRS:- Helen Reynolds and Janice Hoover were runners-up.

We did not enter a novice.

Maureen Hines will compete in the Interleague Veterans, as the winner, Mary Bussell will be competing in another event.

Jean Kelly and Gay Wilkin won 2 games and were winners from Maureen Hines and Andre Gil with a win and a draw.

On Friday, Croquet Section held the second round of golf pennants competition with the Moorabinda Golf team of Bunbury and our Dunsborough team WON again.

Moorabinda team played great but were not quite up to Dunsborough standards on the day.  It was very close.

Dunsborough croquet has now won the first two rounds with the final being played next Friday at Moorabinda Bunbury. This is when we compete against Busselton A team.

Brian Uren is to be congratulated again on winning all his 4 games. What a mighty effort Brian, having won all of the 8 games he has played.  To our golf team, consisting of Karen, Brian, Robin and Max, a huge effort and a huge thank you for supporting our club and playing on our behalf.

The support of the golf players are behind you all the way.  So come on team you can do it and just maybe we will have the honour of taking out the shield. No pressure players.

Go Dunsborough!!!

Tennis Section is seeing increasing numbers on the courts generally, and organised play is seeing all of the courts in use demonstrating the success of the improved facility.

A huge thank you to the many Tennis Section helpers who organised some plants, prepared the ground and planted, weeded and watered the surrounds of the Tennis courts.  The many helpers made the job so much easier and ultimately the entire area will benefit from this effort.   What a pleasure to have so many willing helpers and happy faces.  Thank you all for your effort!

The Jackpot Draw was not won on Friday.  The Jackpot total this week is for $500. Members must be financial for the 2017/18 membership year now and present to claim. The Jackpot is drawn between 5.30pm and 6.30pm in the Clubroom bar.
