Finals to be played on Sunday 18th December.
Mr B Championship Triples finals.
The two teams facing off in the final were : Clint Kelly, Tom Reynolds and Butch Sharpe. Geoff Benn, Kevin Gibb and Brian Marwick whilst the Plate had Div One Ed Hoemberg, Kelly Allsop and Ben Tas against the hungry Div Two side of Andre Gil, Hans Queckfeldt and Wendell Hoover.
It was good to see a crowd came along to watch these games. The accurate precision draw of Clint against the clear drive eye of Geoff. And Geoff was forced to drive quite often as he found his team down. At 14 ends there were just two shots in the match but then the Benn side drew away and did not have to play the last of 18 ends and took the match 16-9. This score does not give credit to the tight match played.
Next door the Gil team took 9 shots over two ends and the opposition knew they had a tight game on their hands. The Hoemberg side has too much class and experience to allow that to affect them and fought back remarkably well. The game was in the balance. Hoemberg required three to win on the last end and was holding those three with the skips last two bowls remaining.
Gil did one of those hail Mary shots well known in the basketball community and it paid off sliding off a couple of bowls to come and rest delicately on the jack. Hoemberg did what he is known for. His shot came in right on target but hit the jack which went backwards towards the opposition bowl. The rank outsiders won to much cheering and congratulations from the Div Two side.
Both games were great. Congratulations to all players.
