100 CLUB RAFFLE IS HERE FOR EVERYONE!!
$$$$$ $5,000 in prizes $$$$$
The Golf Section are holding a 100 Club Raffle to help fund our
upgrading of the fairways. This is a raffle where only 100
tickets are sold and there will be 9 draws conducted
throughout the year from 20th of October until 15th December.
Hopefully it will create a bit of fun along the way as well as
raise some money for the golf section and for the Club in
general!!
There will be 8 Regular Weekly Draws commencing on 20
October each with a 1st prize of $300 and 2nd prize of $200.
Then on December 15th there will be a Final Draw with a 1st
prize of $700, 2nd prize of $200 and 3rd prize of $100.
Overall there are 19 chances to win which equates to nearly a 1
in 5 chance of winning-so pretty good odds when compared
to lotto!!
All 100 numbered balls will be placed in the barrel at the start
of each draw-therefore, one number could win more than one
prize but NOT in the SAME draw. The winners DO NOT have to
be present to win.
Results of the draws will be published on the DDCC website,
in the DDCC Weekly Newsletter and on the Bar the following
Tuesday of each draw.
Tickets are for sale NOW and are $100 each. So get in quick to
be able to select your favourite number/s ticket. Some people
may wish to form a group of 4/5 people each paying $25/$20
each-this may be a good way to buy a ticket. It may be good
fun to be in a couple of groups- more chance of a win!!
Perhaps there is a birthday coming up-maybe a ticket as a
present?!?! Or maybe you might just want a ticket all to
yourself!!! Whatever suits you -we will be more than happy to
sell you a ticket!!
The first draw is on the 20th of October. So if you wish to
purchase a ticket please contact a golf member (male or
female), see the bar staff or contact Vicki Frost on 0428649810
at any time.
Thank you for your interest and we wish everyone the Best of
Luck!!!
Something for everyone to think about!!!
October and the Club’s Annual General Meeting is approaching so it is time to think about nominating for a position on the Management Committee.
This year we have five (5) positions to fill therefore we would encourage all Members to consider nominating. For each of the sporting sections it is important to nominate one of your members for a position so as to have a strong voice in the management as well as a representative for the interests of that sport.
The Club has an important social and community role within Dunsborough. By becoming a member of the Management Committee one can:
- contribute to enhancing this service,
- put your ideas on the table about the running of our Club,
- hear firsthand what the other sections are planning and contribute your thoughts,
- get satisfaction from progress and good outcomes, and
- of course feeling more involved generally.
As always, volunteering in any worthwhile cause gives personal satisfaction to those involved.
Our Club holds a very important place in this community and to all our members. It needs to be managed in a very professional manner by a cross section of members. Also, a healthy situation exists when these Committee members change over on a regular basis to maintain fresh ideas and energy.
The last two years has seen many new projects put in place, new Bowling Greens, new Tennis courts, upgrade of our Golf course, improvements to the Bike skills course, Croquet is booming, new membership options, new outdoor furniture, the Point of Sale system to better manage the Bar and recently the new Reward Card. Our Club sponsorship is also expanding with a number of new sponsors coming on board.
We envisage the future being as progressive, rewarding and exciting for the Club. New ideas and energy are very important in achieving this vibrancy.
Please give strong consideration to nominating. Nomination will be called for during August.
Kaye L McCormick
Secretary

BOWLS NEWS
Tuesday Mixed Bowls
23 players turned up for another fun and enjoyable day. A couple of different games were played and points were added up for each game to determine who ended up in the final. Tom Reynolds, Barb Moylan, Judy Henderson and Barb Kerruish ended up playing in the final. With Tom scoring in the first two ends and keeping the lead to run out a very worthy winner for the day. Good one Tom and hope to see everyone again next Tuesday which is probably our last game before the old carpet is ripped up and the new carpet installed
Men’s Thursday peg-draw
After two years of constant nagging Dave Chester finally joined forty others for Men’s Bowls on a very pleasant Spring day. And he won the meat !! Sharing first prize with Butch Sharpe, (a prodigious buddy bowler these days.)
The chocolate went to Ken Hill and Jimmy Walker.
Saturday mixed scroungers
The weather was overcast but this did not stop 14 intrepid bowlers playing 4-3-2-1.
Sharon joined her carpet-king husband in the final, together with Maureen Hines and Ian Creagh.
All combatants provided us with four tight ends but Ian’s consistency won the day.
For your attention:-
It looks like the installation of the new carpets will commence next Monday, weather permitting. The supervisor of the process has promised ‘A’ green should be ready a fortnight later, given clear skies, with ‘B’ green to follow.
Male bowlers playing Pennants or Club tournaments will be required to pay the Treasurer, Hans Queckfeld $50, shortly, being the member’s contribution to the club’s affiliation fees to Bowls W.A., to the Leeuwin League, and to the South West Bowling League.
Such affiliated bowlers will continue to be charged $8 for social events while non-affiliates will be asked for an extra $5 (as their contribution to green fees).

CROQUET NEWS
Association Croquet State Division 4 Singles
DDCC 9/10th September
Over the weekend Dunsborough Croquet hosted the Croquetwest Association Croquet State Division 4 Singles. 8 players – from Perth, Mandurah, Bunbury and Dunsborough clubs – played 3 two and a half hour Round Robin matches in two blocks on Saturday and 3 two and a half hour Final block Round Robin matches on Sunday – a mammoth undertaking! The winner was Carmel Hodges from Halls Head and the Runner-up David Smeeton also from Halls Head. Dunsborough players David Bell and Max Kewish came sixth and seventh. Well done.
The event could not have gone ahead without the support of the Croquet Section. Thanks to our Greenkeeper Raelene for the time and effort she puts into a difficult task and for her Tea Lady duties on the day,; to Vaile, Manager’s Assistant and Scorer (within minutes of the matches’ finishing the scores were available on the Internet); to the cake makers -Barbara, Helen, Caryll, Glen, Vaile, Maree (who also set the standard for the Presentation Tea). Thanks to all who prepared, set up and cleared the courts. And thanks to the club members who came to watch.
Due to the hard work of many people, the facilities and quality of our club and greens made a great impression on our visitors, in many ways it was a very successful weekend.
Thanks to Barbara Mander who turned out at 7.15 on Saturday to collect the Tournamnet fees!
