MEMBERSHIP
I am in search of 2 bowlers I think!! I have one person paid $200 over the bar and one person who
has paid $200 via Direct Debit and only put 2 letters in the memo and I have NO idea who these 2
people are. So if you have paid and you don’t have your Membership card or it is not in the box at
the bar then please let me know asap.
All Members who have paid their Membership and have not received their cards please ask at the
bar as all cards are now at the bar. We are trying to save on postage so if you could remember to
ask when you next come to the Club.
Many Thanks

Tuesday July 12th

We had 17 players turn up today in lovely sunny conditions.  Played squash bowls and fun had by all.  Finals were Norman Gage, Ken Holyoake, Butch Sharpe and Barb Moylan.  Norm bowled outstanding, especially his forehand, and eventually came out the winner for the day.

Thursday July 14th

A win on the day went to W Coyle and H Queckfeldt with L Perry and W Hoover being the runners-up.  The consolation prize went to H DeBoer and B Hitsert whilst the MB award went to L Gulberti and I Creagh.

Saturday bowls were rained out but fair weather is forecast for the coming week so all games should be on.

I went into my archives for the ladies newsletter, Naturally Biased, which I used to write.  The article below was written for the championship pairs, which was run over two days, first day was so wet, cold, windy and extremely miserable.  I have decided to air the article again.

 Championship Pairs November 2012

Frankie Lane may have “Called the Wind Mariah” but on the first day of the Ladies Pairs Championships, there may have been a few other names mentioned because “Like a Hurricane” it blew and you sure could not hold a “Candle in the Wind”. Talk about “Four Strong Winds”, they came from every which direction.  And as summer had not officially started you could not call it a “Summer Wind”.   We were all “Against the Wind” because everything was “Blowin’ in the Wind”!  Hats were “Gone with the Wind” and some of us even started to “Talk to the Wind”!

And there were no “Pennies from Heaven” when we hummed “Raindrops keep Falling on my Head” and there was no “Laughter in the Rain” from anyone!  “The Rhythm of the Rain” fell on the tin shed and we were all wondering “Who’ll Stop the Rain?”  But “Come Rain, or Come Shine” we battled on to finish our games and we all ended up as “Rainy Day Women”.  Just as we thought it was over there would be a shout “Here Comes the Rain Again”.  None of us were “Singin’ in the Rain” and of course it “Sure Got Cold after the Rain”.

The second week of the Championship Pairs are on Dec 5th and we’ll probably be “Havin’ a Heat Wave” and will all  be wishing for a “Summer Breeze” to cool us off as it will probably be “Hotter Than Hell” and our bowls will be “Too Hot to Handle”  ‘cause “the Heat is On”!!  We will all be “Hot and Bothered” at the start of “Summertime” and we may all just wish we were on the beach wearing our “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini” on one of those “Summer Nights”!

There is just no pleasing anyone!!
