TREVORS CARPET CARNIVAL
THANK YOU
The 2017 Trevors Carpet Carnival was again a huge success and I am sincerely grateful for the massive support I received in the planning, preparation and operation of this event.
Thank you to Pam Brown, Sharon Sharpe & Jill Winter for their management of the massive catering exercise over the weekend. It was indeed an enormous challenge that they very capably (& cheerfully) met.
This thanks is extended to the members who helped in so many ways in the kitchen in food collection & preparation, table setting, cleaning up, etc.
Estelle Perry again excelled herself in the provision of the Saturday evening hamburgers. Thanks you Estelle & your great team for their efforts.
Thanks to Gaye Gibb & her helpers for the Sunday afternoon tea.
Thank you to those who ran both the inside & outside bars over the two days returning an impressive profit for the Club.
Thank you to both Rob Prentice & Janice Hoover for their efforts in organising and running the various raffles over the weekend, again resulting in a very favourable income for the Club.
My appreciation also to Butch Sharpe for 2 days of maintaining the greens, score boards etc & John Cunneen for 2 days of Umpiring.
Our Club Manager, Bruce Taylor, as always, played an enormous role in his involvement in both the food catering & the running of the bars. Bruce, you are a legend!!
Finally to the two guys who so ably & willingly assisted me throughout the planning, preparation & running of the Carnival, your support was invaluable & very generous. I refer to the efforts of Kevin Gibb & Wendell Hoover. It was a pleasure working with them & their contribution was most professional.
To all who helped please accept my personal gratitude for the very capable & very pleasant manner in which you carried out your tasks.
So that’s it for another 12 months. A Carnival ran successfully through the wonderful support & efforts of the above mentioned excellent Club members.
It was my third Trevors Carpet Carnival as Captain, and now my last as I am not nominating for the Captain’s position for the ensuing season.
It has been a pleasure being associated with Ray & Maureen Green in this event & I wish those who will be involved next season best wishes for the successful continuation of this prestigious event.
Thank you

CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
I am very pleased to announce that the Clubman of the Year trophy, for the 2016-17 bowls season, was awarded to Geoff Oddy.
This award recognises the contribution a member makes to the promotion of the bowls section of our Club, beyond his bowling achievements.
Geoff has shown creditable leadership in undertaking the management of the Corporate Bowls programme for the past season.
It is a personal time consuming position that requires an ability to lead a team, attract sponsorship & the competence & confidence to make the many participating teams feel welcome & at ease in the weekly competition.
The Corporate Bowls programme is a major income earner for our Club & a potential source for new members.
Apart from his Corporate Bowls leadership, Geoff has been involved with the organisation and running of the Winter Bowls, Tuesday, mixed social bowls programme.
This event gained significant support throughout the season & was well acclaimed as a very popular event.
Our Club also recognises the role undertaken by Geoff in welcoming new players & visitors and his readiness to play with them on Thursday Social Bowls occasions with the view to making them feel welcome.
In short Geoff has been a credit to the Club and a shining example of what true commitment is all about.
Geoff, the members join with me in acknowledging your contribution with the presentation of this prestigious award, & in doing so, sincerely thank you for your efforts.
