Hello Members, Sponsors & Patron

Clubs WA Award Submissions for 2016

The Club has recently submitted six (6) Award Nominations to Clubs WA for the following categories.
Best Club Chef’s Competition.
Best Product Supplier of the Year (CUB)
Volunteer Contribution (Greg Banfield)
Volunteer Contribution (Raelene Willis)
Best Club Function Facility Award (Medium)
Club of the Year Award (Medium)

The Club has also entered for the Members Choice Award.
This Award allows Members to submit to Clubs WA a statement in 50 words or less to tell them, “My Club is the best because:”

Clubs WA have recently advised me that they have been impressed by the number of entries which have been received from the Dunsborough Club members.
The Club has been in the Final nomination list in the last 4 years and this year could be when a submission by a member of this Club could be successful.

This is the last chance to get a submission in, as entries close at 5 pm on Monday May 16 2016.

So let’s all think and write down in 50 words or less “My Club is the best because_____________”

A form has been attached and can be sent direct to Clubs WA by Fax, e-mail or by Post, to the addresses indicated on the form.
Alternatively you can return your completed form to Ian Potts who will arrange for it to get to Clubs WA

Thanks to all Members who have already submitted an entry.

The Clubs WA representative will be attending  this Friday to assess the DDCC submissions.  Being Friday 13th the croquet section is decorating the dining room for us.  It would be great to have a full house for dinner to showcase what the Club has to offer.  Please book your table via the booking link below the menu.

The Good Old Days of Dunsborough

We would like to invite you to an event that is being held at the Dunsborough and Districts Country Club on Thursday 26th May, 5.30pm, entitled

The evening is an informal get-together of community members, to reminisce and tell tales of the developing years of our town.

There are so many of you whom we know would have great anecdotes to share. To kick the evening off we have booked 10 or so willing story tellers, and will follow on with an ‘open-mike’ session whereby anyone is welcome to share a tale or two.

We would love you to join us and be part of this oral history of Dunsborough. Please feel free to invite friends or family along. It should be a laugh!

You can register by emailing me at admin@dycci.com.au or by phoning 0428229445. The entry is $20

Special request– if you have any photos of days gone by can you please contact me and I can arrange to collect them, scan and return to you. I’m hoping to put a slide show together for the evening.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Thursday May 5th.

The weather was really turned on for the 36 players who turned up to play mens triples.  Winners  on the day were

  1. Gibb/A.Gill/Digger (only name I have – maybe a Dawson?)

R/Up    G.Benn/B.Hitsert/C.Taylor
Consolation     S.Rogers/T.Ferguson/W.Hoover

Saturday  May 7th results.

Twelve intrepid members braved the elements last Saturday and took part in the third round of the mixed peg-draw competition. Judy Henderson and Sharon Sharpe won the day, with Don Henderson and Butch Sharpe a close second, but with no more than four points separating any of the teams in the two games played by the six pairs taking part.

Ken Holyoake leads the “Dash for Cash” with 8 points, Ed Bunbury lies second on 6 points, and Marie Paterson, with her friend Maxine, hot on their trail, with 5 points each. Do join us, weather permitting, each Saturday; names in by 12.15 for a 12.30 start (bar open at 2.30!)

All bowlers are reminded of the “Squash Bowls” played each Tuesday and organised by Sharon and Butch Sharpe.  Come on down and enjoy the day.

REMINDER :

All committee members are reminded of the “Change Over” meeting which is scheduled for next Thursday May 12th at 10.30am sharp.  Outgoing and incoming committee members are required to be at this meeting.

COACHING AND PLAY
DDCC Junior Golf Coaching Sundays at 10am

We have Steve Dartnall who plays golf in the Australin Open and other prestigious

is available-these dates will be announced. The Junior coaching will be free as we
have a very generous person who has offered to pay for Steve’s coaching for the
Juniors. Very lucky and a great opportunity for Juniors!!
The weeks Steve is not available Juniors will have local coaching and practise skills
prior to playing a game of golf.
The Club does have a number of junior golf sets available for use or you may have
your own.
To join the Junior programme each Junior would be asked to become a Member of
DDCC for $20 per year.

Attention WED am Mountain Bikers.

Due to a lack of enthusiasm for our normal 6.30am ride, (OK it is cold and dark), it was suggested we move the time to 4.30pm. This will also suit mum’s with kids to look after.

The majority of the am group thinks this is a great idea, so see you at 4.20pm for a 4.30 start WEDs from the Country Club.

AND- I have cash back from X adventure entry fees for some DDCC members from Rapid Ascent.

Can the following please email membership@dunsboroughcycleclub.org.au your addresses and I will get the envelopes to you?
