Members Jackpot Draw

I would like to explain the new procedure we are using for the Members Jackpot Draw on Friday’s.  We are no longer doing two draws once the $1000 is reached.  The additional money is being held so when the $1000 is won a more substantial amount will be available for the following week.  This I hope will keep everyone interested and no more $100 draws.

Yoga for over 50’s’ at Dunsborough and Districts Country Club for ladies AND gentlemen !!

– Beginners welcome !

In the words of local Dunsborough resident and yoga instructor Mandy Lancellas ‘I thrive on encouraging those who feel they ‘can’t do yoga’ to become those who can, by exploring the multiple benefits for the body, mind and soul. Gentle Hatha Yoga enables the body and mind to find calm and focus in the present moment. It is through breath awareness that we manage to realign our physical body with the mental and energetic systems. Our main focus is safe and effective alignment, to create awareness, strength and mobility. As we grow older the saying of ‘what we do not use, we loose’ begins to resonate with us more and more and so its vital to keep the body moving in a gentle and safe way, maintaining a healthy range of movement throughout our senior years and reducing the risks of injury.’

Mandy invites anyone who is interested to join this gentle and safe yoga practice, suitable for all levels including beginners and people over 50.

Date: Wednesdays

Time: 9:00 am

Venue: Dunsborough and Districts Country Club

Cost: $15

* Please bring a blanket for relaxation (as well as your own yoga mat if you have one).

For any queries (or to book a yoga mat) please call Mandy Lancellas 0475057294

BOWLS NEWS

MEN’S BOWLS

Tuesday Mixed Social Bowls

Well we finally got a game in.  We have been rained out for 3 out of the last 4 weeks before this game so very good to get together again.

We had a small field of 11 as the weather was still dicey but we had a ball. Maureen Hines, Geoff Oddy and Brian Logan played well all day to reach the final.  No one could break clear in the final so they all ended up in adraw.

Hope to see everyone along again this Tuesday.

Thursday

27 hardy bowlers took to the carpets last week on a chilly but clear-skyed day.

Steve Kristiansen partnered Rob Prentice to take the meat, ahead of Butch Sharpe and Ken Hill in second place.

John Halden’s and Gary Robinson’s minds were so focused on moving houses that they won the Mars bars.

Saturday

Just 16 stalwarts filled four rinks at the weekend to play mixed bowls.

Ladies shared the glory, when Erica Littlefair partnered Bill Hitsert to win the day, just pipping Christine Bowden (Fremantle) and Trevor Palmer by one shot, in second place.

CROQUET NEWS

Recently Brian Uren was invited to play croquet at the Mt Lawley Croquet Club in a state competition for up and coming rising stars in croquet.

There were many new players who had only been playing croquet for a short while, playing against state players of high caliber.  This was to give newcomers a chance to hone their skills and learn new strategies

Brian played really well and more than held his own.  There were a few comments from senior players that Brian hardly missed long shots.  Max Kewish and Caryll Marshall attended both days to support and encourage Brian.   Well done Brian.  I hope this will encourage player’s to start going to other clubs to watch and learn new tricky ways of beating your opponent.

We have recently said a sad goodbye to two casual players who are tripping around Australia and stayed a few months with Bev Clarke at Wonky Windmill.  Peter and Jo were warmly welcomed by all croquet members.  We wish them all the best and hope to see them again one day back at the club playing croquet.
