BOWLS NEWS
MEN’S BOWLS
Remember the AGM on the morning of Thursday the 19th April (not 20th as in the fixture book) at 10 am. All vacancies for the new 2018-19 committee need to be filled. Please append your names as proposers, seconders, and acceptors on the available list. The new committee will also have to decide on how many teams to enter in the two Pennants competitions next year so please add your names before heading off to warmer pastures.
LADIES BOWLS
After some urgent phone calls to replace three players who were unable to participate due to illness, the competition started almost on time, thanks to Martin Osborne, Maureen Hines and Andre Gil not only for their willingness to participate but the very short time it took them to arrive.
We had 12 teams playing three games both days, with Janice Hoover replacing Maureen on Sunday, and there were some excellent scores throughout . It wasn’t until the completion of the final game that we finally were able to decide the winners, who ended up winning 5 of their six games, closely followed by three other teams winning four of their games.
The winners were Ian Creagh and Christine Coyle with 15 points and 28 shots up, followed by Runners Up Jem Coupar and Toby McCarthy with 15 points and 13 shots up. Well done all players.
Many thanks also to Chef Callan for supplying the tasty snacks at the end of the day.
Wednesday’s social bowls saw Denise Mott and Lorraine Lewis win both games with 9 shots up, closely followed by Jill Winter and Marie Paterson also winning both games and 4 shots up
Next Wednesday’s game players will be competing for the Match Committee’s Trophy. Hope to see you all there as this will be our final competition for the 2017 /2018 Bowls season
Wednesday 18th is the Ladies AGM at 10.30am followed by a light lunch supplied by Callan, so hope to see everyone present. Nominations have been received for all positions except Secretary so no excuses for not attending!

TENNIS NEWS
Tennis Section Coach, Paige Newhill, continues to run social tennis for Members only on Friday evenings from 5.30 pm – there is a cost of $5.00 per player. Come along and enjoy some social tennis and the opportunity to blend with some of the Juniors who are potential seniors to the Club. Junior players have been participating in a number of tournaments over the summer and have been rewarded with some great successes.
A reminder that The Olde Cowbell Tournament is planned for Saturday 12 May and we expect good attendance at this very popular event. Please mark your calendars!
Junior Tennis Update
Dunsborough juniors competed in the last of the South West Tournaments held in Busselton Sunday 8th.
We were represented across all age groups with a total of 17 players competing
Holly Braddock and Tilly Thomson were winners in the girls 12under dbles and Tilly was runner-up in the singles.
Max Foley and Samuel Siegrist won the boys 12 under doubles and Sam Jennings was runner-up in the 12under singles. Sam was one of the younger boys in that division so a great result. We were represented in finals across all divisions.
There were new faces from Margaret River, which was great for competition.
Fun day for players and long day for mums and dads.
Thank you all for effort.
CBH Country Championships our next goal in Perth.
