Happenings Around The Club

A new computer has been installed for use by the sections- it is situated inside the door of the manager’s office.

A wall mounted cabinet has also been installed to cope with the never ending increase of cords & connections required for the Club to function in our now very technical world.

We welcome CLASSIC CANASTA to the CLUB

Kevin Gibb, Frances Lismore, Janice Hoover, May Armstrong and Linton Thomas enjoying a game of Canasta. Apparently Frances was the eventual winner. Well done Frances!

Due to the long weekend Monday Canasta will not be happening next week.

TENNIS NEWS

ANNUAL OLDE DEVON COW BELL

The annual tennis event, the Olde Devon Cow Bell Tournament, was held on Saturday 25 May.  Weather conditions for tennis were perfect, minimal wind and a pleasant temperature. 

Dunsborough Tennis welcomed visitors from Busselton, Margaret River as well as regular players, including families with juniors from our membership.  We were also pleased to have Andrew Woodward, one of our coaches join us from Bunbury.  

This was the 11th year of this tournament which is played in great spirit and we are grateful to Greg Banfieldntinuing to provide a fun afternoon for all.  Players adjourned to the Clubrooms to hear the history of the perpetual Olde Devon Cow Bell trophy.

The Croquet Section are looking for complete novices to

trial a new form of croquet, 14/40.

Max Kewish will be conducting the sessions from 10am until 11am on Thursday mornings starting the week May 23rd.

Thank you to Helen for all the work she puts in and around the Club- a silent hard worker, a fabulous cook, a sign painter for events, a member of the DDCC committee, secretary of the Combined Golf committee and secretary of the Ladies Golf committee and any other jobs that come her way. Thank you Helen for all the times you put your hand up to do things-a great asset to our Club.

The Jackpot draw saw number 484 come up but unfortunately Brian Hicks was not present. So this week the Jackpot draw will  still be $1000!

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

It is that time of year again!! You will receive an invoice on the 1st of June for payment.

PLEASE NOTE:
Ordinary Membership fee has risen by $10 for the new 2019/20 Membership year.

All other fees have remained the same.

It is preferable that you pay your fees using the DDCC Direct Debit for Membership

as all of your fee stays with the Club -if using PayPal 3%goes to PayPal.

If you wish to add or delete any sports then please contact me via email using membership@dunsboroughcountryclub.org.au before the Saturday 29th of May otherwise your invoice on the 1st of June will be incorrect when you receive it.

I am asking anyone who has changed their mailing address or has a new email address to update their details and do so before the 29th of May. You can go into your own profile and do this yourself by logging into dcc.wildapricot.org and logging into your profile with your email address and password (use “forgotten password” if you can’t remember it). Click on your name which is under the Club logo right of centre. When you have “My Profile” up click on “Edit Profile”-now you can change your info in the boxed areas. You CANNOT change your sport options- you can change “Group Participation” but NOT sport options- you will need to contact me to change sport options. Once you have completed your changes you MUST click on “SAVE” otherwise you will lose your changes!!

Claiming your Club Rewards online

The simplest way to claim your Club Reward is to click on the link provided on the Rewardemail sent to you advising of your Reward entitlement and follow the instructions.

If you have previously used your Wild Apricot email and password to logon to Club Rewards, proceed with your logon.

If you have not registered with Club Rewards before, create your login using your Wild Apricot email and password.

Upon successful logon you will be shown your points balance and available Club Rewards that can be claimed.

Claim the Club Reward you want. The voucher will be displayed, and you can print it. Put your name on the voucher and pass it on to the relevant supplier (e.g. Membership, Town Kitchen, Blue Manna).

If you want to claim multiple Club Rewards (e.g. 2 x $50 Memberships) repeat the process.

In the unlikely event that the above options prove too complicated ☹, talk to your friendly Club manager, who will arrange for your voucher to be redeemed. Please make sure you pay any balance of your membership fees at the same time, so that your subscription can be reconciled, and your new Membership card issued.

CROQUET NEWS

Golf Croquet Tournament

14/40 Croquet

Dunsborough has offered to be a trial site for this new form of croquet, introduced to halt the decline of players playing Association Croquet. The trial will be run by Max Kewish who will instruct complete novices for an hour a week for 6 weeks. As the name indicates players will aim to score 14 hoops in 40 minutes. Like Golf Croquet, all players will remain on the court for the whole game. The first session is at the DDCC at 10am on Thursday 23rd May. Please contact Max on 0429672850 if you know people who may be interested in attending.

BOWLS NEWS

MEN’S BOWLS 

PENNANT PLAYERS

Currently we have nominated 1 first division team and two second division teams for the Leeuwin League 19/20 Pennant Season. 30 players with a few reserves have nominated so far. To accommodate a third second division team we will need 32 committed bowlers each week. So, if you want to have the possibility of playing pennants please nominate on the list on the Bowls Notice Board

MEN’S THURSDAY BOWLS

Fine weather saw 27 starters for Thursday Men’s Social bowls and, in respect for the late Col Howley’s funeral, playing was delayed until 1.30pm.

The chocolates were handedto Rob Pollard & Ken Hill.

       Consolation one went to Bert Shannon & Gary Bell & Consolation

two to Chris Adams & Tex Williams.

                      The Runners Up for the day with 13 points were

John Halden & John Tucker.

                   One point ahead, with 14 points, the day went to

Rob Wilson & Graham Winter.

                             Starting time next week will revert to the

normal time of 12.30pm for a 12.45 start.

Wednesday  22  May  Scroungers  

Barry Guestlead a good field on the course to come out winnerwith a solid score of 39 points closely pursued by two players in Barry Jackson, and Doug Gilchrist each scoring 37 pts. Barry J squeezed Doug out on a countback.  

Novelties went to Arnold Bosenberg on No 10  NTP and Barry Guest on No 18 Putt

Saturday   25  May   STBD

Winner         Ron Carmody was able to capitalize on the good weather and golfing conditions to score 41 points with six other players scoring well in the 30 s.

Runner up    Clive Williams also enjoyed the conditions and with a steady rhythm scored 38 points.   Clive’s first shot of the day on No 10 won him the NTP.

Barry Jackson sunk the long putt on No 18.

Friday Jackpot 

The $1000 Jackpot Draw was not won on Friday night. Number 484 belonging to Brian Hicks was drawn out but as Brian was not in attendance the Jackpot this week is still $1000. Members must be financial for the 2018/19 membership year and present to claim the prize. The Jackpot is drawn between 5.30pm and 6.30pm in the Clubroom bar.
