Hello Members, Sponsors & Patrons
New Club chef Colin Lyttle is providing meals every Saturday and Sunday from 4.00pm. Please get a group together, come along and show your support. The meals have been very well received with great feedback. As the weather improves a couple of drinks and a meal on the alfresco area. Not a bad way to spend your afternoon.

MEN’S BOWLS NEWSLETTER ARTICLE
The Div One side travelled to Cowaramup for their second game accompanied by the Div Two White side. It was a perfect day for bowls with the first sunny day for the season!
Geoff Benn and his team won from the get-go against Keith Simmonds and did not allow the team a sniff winning 29-12.Colin Mee started extremely well against Ed Hoemburg and it was not until the 14th end when the Hoemburg side took five shots, drew the score and then took the next end by 4 that they got into the lead. They ended up winning 24-15. Mike Brown’s team was ahead the full match but did allow Cowaramup to steal 5 on the 20th end and then hold 6 on the last.
Maybe it was because Dennis Frost and Merv Mott had put their hand up for the “Shot of the Day” that convinced Mike he needed to be in contention for the title. He did a magic lucky shot that took away 5 of the Cowaramup shots and they lost the end by one but won the match by 7.
The Div Two game saw Norm Gage team win 23-13 but the match of the day on the whole green was between Peter Clews team and that of Clive Williams. It was a highly contested game throughout and the win was left until the last end when Dunsborough took three shots. Great game by all players.
With White at Cowaramup the Div Two Blue side drove to Augusta where they had a win and a loss.
Next week all games are home games so it would be great if a crowd could turn up to cheer on the boys.
After a unanimous agreement of Second Division players & discussion with First Division players yesterday it has been resolved that bowlers no longer bring sandwiches to home pennant games. Instead afternoon tea will be careered for by our new Club chef at a cost of $7.
In the future, when your team is the home game host, your manager will now collect $13 from each bowler instead of the $6 usually paid. This is now in effect as of this coming Saturday. As ALL teams are playing at home this Saturday, ALL bowlers will be expected to pay the $13.
Skippers are asked to follow up on this matter and advise each team member of this change
The men’s triples championship started with a bit of a boil-over when the highly ranked team of Hoemburg, Kelly and Tas found themselves in the plate courtesy of Tom Reynolds, Clint Kelly and Dennis Sharpe.
Reynolds then played Gary Davies and won 14-13 and are in the final against Mike Brown, Rod Winchcombe and Ralph Don who defeated the Norm Gage’s team in first game winning 17-10, in the second game they beat Geoff Benn’s team 16-12.
The plate final will be between Hoemburg and Gil’s team of Hans Queckfeldt and Wendell Hoover. The finals date is yet to be confirmed.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK:-
Laughing is good exercise, it’s like jogging on the inside.
Tennis Members welcomed the sunshine for Saturday Social Tennis this week. This resulted in a number of visitors joining in to swell our numbers and although it did mean a number of players were required to sit off for each set, it does enable a good social rapport to develop.
Tennis Members were also involved in a catering assignment on both Saturday and Sunday at the Naturaliste Community Centre for a Bridge Congress which attracted almost 150 players for the two days. This was a fundraising opportunity for the Tennis Members and involved most members of the Tennis Section being involved in some way with serving morning and afternoon tea and preparing and providing lunch for the Bridge players. It was carried out with great spirit and professionalism and the Bridge Congress announced it was “The best catering they had ever had”. Very well done to all involved.
