Tuesday Mixed Bowls. 16-8-2017. Sharon and Butch Sharpe.

We had 16 bowlers brave the weather and believe it or not we had only a couple of spits of rain. All enjoyed the day of fun. The 4 that progressed through to the final were Sue Chester, Linda Foard, Geoff Oddy and Trevor Palmer. Geoff Oddy was very consistent and won 2 out of 4 ends to take out the winner’s prize money. The other 3 finalists shared the remaining minor placings. Thanks everyone for coming along to make it a very enjoyable day.

Thursday Results.
Clem Taylor and Geoff Oddy won the day with plus 15 and the R’s/U were W Coyle and K Hill on plus 9. The consolation went to N Gage and G Benn whilst the MB award was handed to W Dawson and C Williams.

Saturday Results

It was a bit warmer on Saturday when we filled four rinks on “B” green. The peg draw saw Christine Coyle paired with Dennis Frost to take the winners’ fortune, with the lesser Coyle and Andre Gill runners up. The Match committee suggest  continue until Saturdays’ “Dash for Cash” continue until 17th September.

Tennis News

The Tennis “Court Upgrades” Sub-Committee recently submitted to funding applications, City of Busselton Community Bids for $50,000 and Department of Sport & Recreation (CSRFF Small Grants) also for $50,000 (Note: DSR have had big cut backs in their funding allocations for example, in this current round, there is only $650,000 for all WA not for profit sporting projects).

These external funding applications, if successful, will go toward the $213,000 cost of 2 new hard courts and the re-surfacing of the two Synthetic courts.  If we are successful then the Club will then apply to the City of Busselton for the remaining funds needed through a self-supporting loan (SSL).

The new courts will provide much needed increased playing space for Club members, our growing Junior coaching squad (80), local and out of town visitors and add significantly to the Club revenue stream.  We will keep you posted on the success  or otherwise of these external funding applications.”
